Then he received a letter brought by the Dornish Princess (who some Lords demanded be sold to a brothel, cause that's what the Dornish had done to said Lords daughter) Anyway, he made peace, kinda, and Dorne became the 7th kingdom. You're either mixing Targaryens up or the show changed some stuff drasticlly. Also noone knows what was in that letter, since he burnt it and never talked about it. Theories include that the dornish offered him the remains of his sister-wife, whom he loved - or that she was still alive, but tortured and brought to dragonstone and died there - which many doubt, since he likely would have destroyed the Dornish if she had been tortured for years, consequences be damned.
