port adelaide were selfish, they wanted to decimate the sanfl and didnt have the leagues best interests at hand. norwoods bid was half hearted as they didnt have the team or the administration to go it alone. in the end the league panicked and made the crows, taking a huge chunk of the glenelg football clubs players, coach and support staff. leaving the league in ruins.

think a lot had to also do with norwood reading the room and didn't want to be as hated as Port but also could see the way the SANFL would have been left and they weren't as convinced

@@SportsCastMediaSA thats true, their attempted bid wasnt going to be as detrimental to the league as ports cut and run.

@@aussieintexas61 one could say that Norwood remaining sorta saved the SANFL from complete ruin

Come on fellas are you two taking the P155 or just really this clueless? Expecting Vic clubs to play home games interstate is almost the stupidest idea ever uttered out loud. Dont put yourselves in the same peanut tin by repeating it. 😂 Secondly on the Gibbs F/S stuff. The AFL was born out of the VFL so the other competitions who were not part of the AFL cannot be included for such things, despite ridiculous attempts to make a false equivalency from interstate bleaters the AFL itself. Best example is Port Adelaide. The Port magpies are STILL in the SANFL. STILL their own seperate club. The Port power are a different club, yet we have this rubbish that they're one and the same. Hope the rest of the podcast isnt this crazy

Thanks for your feedback whilst we agree the idea of intestate games for finals is a ridiculous idea but it was more about the point of someone throwing up an idea to try and equalise it ….. does it make sense no will it happen no ….. so we agree it will never happen …..

Great period for Norwood, 1975-1984, after a long drought. The competition hadn't been completely destroyed by the exodus of the best players to the VFL. Carman of course left at the end of 1974 and then Norwood won 4 Premierships over the next 10 years . He was a great player, using his amazing fitness and leap and marking ability to dominate. He was however prone to violence and disruptive but more disciplined than when he went to Melbourne. You don't win Premierships with players like Carman and he proved that at Collingwood in Victoria. Ross Dillon doesn't get the same accolades but Dillon is the type of player who wins a side Premierships .
