Covenant theology is definitely a product of theological theory rather than Biblical exposition. While covenant theologians such as Berkhof labor over many Scriptural proofs, the specific formulas of the covenants are inductions from theology which go beyond the Scriptures. CT always imposing their scholarly theological covenants over the Biblical Covenants, these theological covenants learned only from their scholarly schools of theology and irenic theology books (Witsius, Beale, Goldsworthy etc) are never found in Scripture nor supported by a "Thus saith the Lord." The 6 Biblical Covenants (Noahic, Abrahamic, Mosaic, Priestly, Davidic, New) are plain Scripturally-supported Biblical Covenants in contrast to CTs theological covenants (covenants of works, redemption, grace) where CT scholars maximize their theological gymnastics and proof-texting to create and apply these overarching man-made covenants into the Bible: show us the Bible chapter and verses please to support them! Charles Hodge, a covenant theologian, states plainly, “God entered into covenant with Adam. This statement does not rest upon any express declaration of the Scriptures." ~ Charles Hodge, Systematic Theology, II, 117.

Such a timely talk pastor, as a childhood friend asked me to offer a mass for her mom who passed away last June 13, I’m unsure of what to tell her, coz I have yet to fully share the gospel of Christ to her last March 28 when her eldest daughter Nikki passed due to Covid19, and now her 84 yo mom due to hypovolemic shock.
