That’s an important question, but it varies quite a bit based on the specialty. Here is a link to the NRMP document called charting outcomes in the match, where you can see the average number of publications for matched and unmatched applicants. How about now when step one is only pass or fail..? When they don’t give you score on step one?

Now that Step 1 is pass/fail, the top two criteria for getting interviews are Step 2 score and letters of recommendation. Hope this helps!

Yes and No, some programs might while some dnt, so everything is speculation for now.

We encourage you to write to the ECFMG and express your concerns because it is possible that new pathways could be developed or that adjustments could be made to the existing pathways. We are also aware that some petitions have been started to bring these concerns to the attention of the ECFMG. We support IMGs as we recognize the tremendous contributions they have made to medicine in the U.S., and we hope that you have the chance to show residency programs everything you have to offer.

We know that there are some excellent IMG candidates who are not eligible for these pathways. The ECFMG does indicate that this is preliminary information and that full details of these pathways will be forthcoming. They also indicate that it is subject to change. So it is our hope that, after further review, the ECFMG will make changes that will allow qualified IMGs who are not currently eligible based on these pathways the opportunity to move forward with their residency application and career in the U.S.

@ARKAPRAVA DAS It is not over for IMGs quite yet! We can only predict what will happen in the future. But with the right attitude and great preparation, there's no reason why IMGs can't excel in US Residency! And, if need be, we're always here to help you strengthen your application or gain some clinical experience. You can do it!
