Declining species like the house sparrow ??????????????? In MN USA I call them flying rats. There are literally millions of them in every state. They are vermin!!!!!

1:04 How much rainwater do you need to have in storage for the heatwaves that we get in summer now? I am thinking about how many water butts I would need. I understand that it would depend on pond size, you can tell me how big your pond is, how many litres you keep in storage and I can scale up or down as appropriate.

When talking about ponds it would be fair to mention that they attract mosquitos and snakes (including poisonous ones).

Adorable little fellow. Sleep tight! Sweet dreams...🖤🐭
Do they live in actual DOORS? Like, do they burrow into a door and make a hole to live in?

It is so cute. Maybe to increase the presence, you should make it a marketable pet and then there would be the incentive to breed so many more of them. Nothing like capitalism to spur on breeding.

How can I help dormice and welcome them to my property please? Where do they like to sleep, overwinter, what do they like to eat?
@katherinegilmour2573 Жыл бұрын
I truly had no idea there's really such an animal called a doormpuse!
@jacktorrance26339 ай бұрын
They are really cute. Dormice aren't found in the wild in North America but are sold as pets. The ones I saw years ago looked like miniature Chinchillas.

I make fat bricks. Heat the lard in a microwave till quite hot, add ingredients incl sultanas and dried mealworms, push into a rectangular plastic container. Put in freezer. Take out frozen brick and push in to dense or prickly bush (wear protective gloves) if you don't want the bigger birds to gorge on the brick. If you want to hang it up, half fill container, press in a piece of wire mesh with string attached, fill the rest of the container. Press down. Freeze. Hang it up👍

Lovely! If I could just add that it’s important to sand the edges of the holes so there are no splinters that might damage their delicate wings.

Its more important to create deadwood and make holes than to sand the edges of holes.

As soon as a bird lands on one of those the knotted string will pull straight through.
