Great tutorial. I would love to try oil. Do you love oil compared to acrylics? I am an amateur but I really think I would love oils because of the creamy texture and blending. Thoughts?

Curious about your opinion on cleaning your painting towels and safety. I have seen videos that suggest you should have a fire safety can for used oil painting towels due to the ability to combust…and not to wash them in your home washing machine… Wondering your thoughts and practices for towel and paper towel safety and cleaning…. Recently found your artist soar podcast and you online. Love the information you guys share and appreciate your willingness to do so! Self taught and hoping this can be my full time life after my pet grooming life

Hey Sabrina, Thank you so much for the kind words! We LOVE doing the podcast and I greatly appreciate the feedback 🥰. Regarding the painting towels. So you can either let them dry out flattened, not balled up (which is what I do) or you can throw them in a container with water designed for fire materials. What makes them combustible is when the heat builds as the oil dries, so if it is balled up, then that is allowing the heat from all sides to intensify. I personally don’t use a ton of oils in addition to the paint so I’ve never had an “oil soaked rag” - which is what a lot of the sites say. I generally think of oil soaked happening with things like car repair where oil and gasoline would be combined. The layout of my table has a flat old dish towel, folded in 3rds or half, that is right next to the jar of mineral spirits, so i can wipe my brush on that. And I just leave it there. I probably change out my towel about once every couple of years (or when it gets noticeably stiff with paint :) ). I hope this helps!! And many thanks for listening and comments ❤️🎨 Stephanie
