You look a lot like me when I first started paddling class 4, lots of confidence, a decent roll, but flipping over way too much. The thing that took me to the next level was really drilling my low brace. A solid and intuitive low brace would really improve your paddling. Great work!

Interesting, I've noticed that I pretty much only high brace but haven't put thought into when to low brace. That's really good feedback, thanks!

Why did you swim there ?

The short answer is lack of rest before that flip and poor technique. I was winded, lifted my head before the hip snap, and didn't get my paddle close enough to the surface before initiating the roll.

Thanks! I can't wait to get back and give it another go, hopefully it'll be a less hectic run 😅

Nice edit! Great you have such a supportive crew. There’s so much you can learn about technique on easier water without feeling & making others feel fear. It’s always a bummer when an avoidable situation results in a would be kayaker homie going back to rafting because they stepped up too quickly. A really bad swim often turns into a huge mental challenge to recover from. Humility is a wonderful character trait, and this video is a great example of many things to learn from. 🙏🏼🥰
