I don't think it matters what you are racing there, "THIS IS BATHURST" will always apply. Mt Panorama is the challenge that all must beat. The race is secondary to the mountain...

I was there. I think I can hear the race commentator mention me at the start. Anyone know if there is any film available of the other races that day. 28/5 1985.

love these insane scoot jockeys... i wish i could've done sidecar but never knew anyone involved. seen a bit of it at Calder as a little kid.... would've been some bruised and burnt backsides on that circuit coz plenty of bumps and drops... and the guy who got ran over at the start looked like broken ribs at the very least.

Sidecars are awesome. I’ve seen some Isle of Man sidecar action but even cooler seeing then at Bathurst! ❤️🇦🇺

That 1000cc is 4stroke and the 2 stroke has 500cc?

The two stroke engines were 700cc or 750cc. The four stroke engine were generally 1100 cc

Alistair Tassie Yeah, same here mate. Would love to race there again. We blew up our engine on the second lap of practice. By the time we got the borrowed engine fitted and rewired the bike we’d missed qualifying and the first race. So we got a grand total of about 8 laps!. Not exactly what I had in mind😂

This is the broadcast footage without commentary, I negotiated hard with the TV guys to get it released for the kiwis, I have never seen it till now and had no idea that they actually came good. First time I’ve even seen the race cause I was tied up with admin all day.
