This is one of the most helpful Etsy tip videos I've seen so far! I'm trying to do as much research as I can before I start a store... It sounds like market and niche research are the most powerful kind you can do. It's hard to not get overwhelmed haha

Your conversion rate is waaay above the Etsy average (2-3%). Great job! One piece of advice (you may have already noticed) is to NOT look at your shop in terms of daily or even weekly stats but rather monitor your stats on a monthly/ yearly basis. Trends and traffic will fluctuate a lot and after 1 full year you can then start to see real patterns from your own shop data. Keep it up! Your growth is fast growth even if it doesn't feel like it!❤

Shoutout to Shrek! 😂 First off, your conversion rates are really good. Most people would kill to do half as well, so be proud of that. Second, the fact you’ve been able to pull off the sales you have without social media is impressive as well. Don’t give up, keep plugging away at it and you’ll turn it into a booming business in time.

Hello Melanie, I had a question about SEO, or how to get more views without advertisement. Did you plan out on titles, descriptions, or something else such as SEO or tags? I wonder if you can make a video about this.🙂I started my etsy store years ago, but it got nearly less than 2 views, mainly family members visiting my store-- I had to shut it down, but would want to make a new etsy shop some day.

Etsy best place to start but not running your business, as soon you get good amount of sales and reviews china will steal your designs and images to make cheap knockoff of your product and then it spreads like virus. Already happened to me while I have just 750 sales for 1.5 year which is very small. Be prepared that everything will be stolen and used. Etsy do not protect sellers and have open statistics of every shop to everyone.

@@JustSmile..yep, personalization is huge. I have been in one particular industry for many years now that wholesales out to retailers, and I can say firsthand, many of our partners’ best categories are personalizable products. People love being able to create things themselves, and of course anything that’s more personal is going to connect more than a generic item, especially when it comes to gifts.

I really liked your video. Thanks for your honesty and for explaining your evolution in etsy. I'm a bit tired of those videos that promises a lot of sales, but actually don't talk how those sales come. I have an Etsy shop too from 6 years ago and my presence in social media it's pretty low, so Etsy get most of my sells and I think that's pretty good. Usually I have 100 sales per month, but I also saw my sales decreasing in May and June. I hope after summer it gets better. Usually the start of schoolar year, Halloween and Christmas are great seasons for sales. I can't say that's completely how it works, but sales themselves and new listings attrack new sales. The star seller program and bad reviews can affect too.

Absolutely! You do need to do a lot of research to decide what product to sell. I would say etsy is lower risk! Shopify is a different story bc you have to generate your own traffic 100%.

That's pretty good progress for your first 5-6 months. Relying on Etsy to bring traffic to your store does work. It takes time, but it does work. Without ads, too. I sell physical products (bird and squirrel feeders) and it took about 3 months for things to finally take off (pardon the pun). Since then, I average between 25-30 orders a month and it keeps me just busy enough (I also have a day job). I had 60 orders this past November and that was crazy. I also sell wooden jack o' lanterns for Halloween so September was a really good month as well. I have a FB and IG page but I don't really use them to drive traffic to my Etsy shop. I also have a Pinterest page but I haven't done anything with that since last summer. Between those three sources, I get 10-15 visits a month. I average over 800 visits a month, total. My conversion rate is always around 3%, which is very good, by Etsy standards. It's all Etsy. It does work.

I opened my Etsy shop in January also without social media or marketing but I’ve only gotten 4-5 views. I had only one listing for a while which is why I think it’s been so low. So I’ve slowly been growing the amount of listings. I make original art and sell art prints of that art but if anyone has any recommendations for someone not doing print on demand/digital downloads, that’d be very much appreciated 🥲 I’ve sold in person easier than online so I’m also learning SEO

Don't be disheartened by the slow sales. It's very common for online sales to die down during late spring and all through summer. That's why a lot of small businesses go to vendor markets during this time. Keep it up and you'll see that money increases once fall rolls around.

Great video and really helpful! I am actively working on opening my etsy store, so this video was really helpful to prepare myself for the reality of selling digital products. I have one question. Hi! I'm glad it helped! I had about 40 listings I believe when opening, and within the first month or so I reached 100 listings. Now I have about 200.
