Getting called to drum for Steely Dan is one of the highest achievements. It means you have learned how to meld with the music and turn technicality and complexity into "musicality". Porcaro would be proud.

This is great! Excellent and precise transcription and drumming! As a drummer, I'm revisiting a lot of this music lately that I listened to when it came out. I would love to get a copy of the transcription of this. The links do not seem to work. Still possible.

My favorite Bozzio track, and you did a great job. I loved that you let loose at the end, which made me think of Bozzio's performance at the US Festival. Lastly, I also love how relaxed you look while playing. You make it look so effortless.🥁👍

Great job on transcribing a song that's not very easy to transcribe. I think this is one of Jeff Porcaro's best recordings. He makes a very difficult song sound smooth and effortless. Miss you so much Jeff.

Even Gavin Harrison who is one of the world's most highly rated drummers says he was inspired and influenced by Steve Jansen. That says so much for SJ.
@masterfuldrumming84083 ай бұрын
Gavin Harrison is incredible. I have worked through one of his books and I'm a big fan of Porcupine Tree and King Crimson. He does sight Steve Jansen as an influence and both he and SJ influenced me. Thank you for watching the video Alan!

@@masterfuldrumming8408 In the 80's I first became aware of Terry Bozzio's drumming via Missing Persons. U.S Drag and Mental Hopscotch being my faves. His playing on this song really blew me away. Been following him since. He should be way more famous than he is. Again, great job, sir!
If only he'd just had allan on guitar playing all the chord work. Then he'd become part of iou

@@masterfuldrumming8408 I saw Allan play the iou material in the half moon pub in putney in 1980. There he was, a unique ground breaking genius. So different & advanced technically & musically compared to other players it was if he was from another planet of super humans. Yet I don't think it was even a full house.
