I do this with myself behind the patient. Small bean bag at the level of somatic dysfunctio. Obtaining permission to hug them. Use less the force, as in that position you can recruit gravity, the patients weight, to perform it safely. Works for T5 thru T 8/9.

There are so many variations on how to manipulate the thoracic spine. It’s almost endless. There are pros and cons to every technique, we cover that one on the online platform but it’s not suitable for all therapists especially smaller therapists working on larger patients, hence the need for adaptions and variations.

Can a strain on this cause swelling? I hurted some muscle a year ago around my shoulder blade doing yoga, and the pain has come and go for months, but lately I have felt swelling under my armpit and below my breast where ribs feel, my chiropractic said it was lactid acid and had to drained, it was painful af, it helped on May and had to go back last week ,everything good until now that it's hurting again (Ive been carrying my baby nephew). Is there a way to heal from this? I just want to be fully recovered and do everythin again without pain coming back, even form side sleeping.

I'm working with a patient whose TMJ problem is so bad that she's lost significant hearing on that side. I've been in practice for 34 years and always had good results using an Activator, even with her. Recently she became badly locked and only responded slightly to my adjustment. It's been a long time since I've used an osseous cavitation technique. Will this work even if the disc has gone posterior in the joint....?

To be honest, I’m not a massive fan of high velocity thrust techniques for the TMJ. I think you can achieve the same results through good mobilisation, dry needling , soft tissue techniques etc… due to the uniqueness of the joint Therapist have a tendency to use extreme force in the manipulation. I would say to use a mobilisation first and then gently apply additional pressure and see how the patient responds, it’s a less is more approach

Dry Needling is the western interpretation of TCM acupuncture - they use the same equipment but have different philosophies, concepts, teaching and clinical applications - dry needling used modern anatomy and physiology and EBM to rationalise the use of the technique in a clinical setting… dry needling doesn’t treat systemic issues where as TCM claims too..

This can be used as part of a treatment protocol for plantar fasciitis, although it’s worth getting a full differential diagnosis as to the underlying causational factor of the condition which would then allow you to choose the most appropriate techniques, things like soft tissue, Acupuncture can help with some soft tissue management but it would be worth maybe speaking to a podiatrist or someone who has specialist knowledge on foot biomechanics prior to using manual therapy or self administered manual therapy to ensure suitability
