If the suspension points are as far forward as in the simulation, the harness would have a massive angle of attack and probably more drag than a seat harness.

I'm just dissapointed it doesn't come in yellow.

That speed.... Wow

Another thing I'd love to see is the different manufacture wing characteristics. On one wing model can you simulate... Advance's winglets? Sky walks jet flaps? Air design vortex wingtip holes? And measure drag reduction or increase in these small details? Amazing work by the way.
Je ne vois pas le plaisir de voler dans de telles conditions ☹️

Thanks for sharing your findings Hiro 🙏 - interesting results, with seemingly clear conclusions! 🤓

ps. If you're able to run simulations to test how much stability affects performance i.e. comparing a harness of the same basic type/shape which remains closer to the most efficient angle to one that deviates more from the optimum, that would also be interesting. I suppose the results might vary quite a bit from one basic type/shape harness to the other e.g. the standard open harness would be less badly affected by instability than the most streamlined harness, relatively speaking.

thank you, that's awesome data

This is very interesting! It however looks like the airflow is horizontal, rather than at the L/D of the glider - this could make a significant difference... It's an important point when setting up your pod, so that the angle is aligned with the expected airflow.

The airflow is horizontal, but instead the harness is pitched up 6 degrees. atan(1/10)≒6deg I would like to verify other angles as well.

@@hiro-wi2nm any plan of doing more ? What is the software you use to run the sim ? edit: looks like autodesk cfd or ?

Would you mind sharing the models so i dont have to redo them ?

This is great Hiro! Please run another simulation investigating: a standard pod that fills in the area behind the helmet (Lightness 3), the effect of gliding with your hands held low down on the risers, and the effect of a badly-set pod with -30degrees and +30degrees of tilt.

I am also interested in the proposal. And gopro on the helmet too.

@@hiro-wi2nm Great work, thanks. Please add the effect of windscreens too - eg. Lightness 3. I believe they make a significant difference...

Love these ideas. BUT...how much more can we get if the pilots head in the submarine is in a canopy or aero helmet or screen? And aero fairings on arms?
