Up in the mountains of San Isabella So high I looked down on the moon Stars fell below me, I was so close to heaven But I knew the sun would come soon And light one more day Alone on the highway with just a dream Of findin' that certain someone To set my heart free I saw her face in the sun comin' up in New Mexico And I heard her voice in a river that ran through Durango She has a way that I've never known but I cannot forget She is everywhere around me, I just haven't found her yet With the fog of early morning was still clouding out my mind In this café down around Raton I thought I saw her in the eyes of a stranger But when I turned around she was gone Left a tip on the table And walked out of that café with a smile I know that I'll find her It's all just a matter of miles I saw her face in the sun comin' up in New Mexico I heard her voice in a river that ran through Durango She has a way that I've never known but I cannot forget She is everywhere around me, I just haven't found her yet Up in the mountains of San Isabella So high I looked down on the moon

I've been sitting here just watching smoke circle Around empty bottles of beer Lately all I've been talking about's getting out of here I got friend in west Texas, baby They've got a little place we can stay Staying up all night long, so we can sleep all day Let's get out of here tonight Through our hearts to the wind Let's fill that highway up with our headlights Tonight, there's a full moon shining down And I'm so tired of watching from this one-horse town And we can talk about it all later, in the morning light Let's get out of here tonight. Last time I was in Amarillo, I stayed up 'til dawn Everybody was laughing and singing On the back lawn Well maybe that was down in Lubbock It was a good time, I swear The point is it's out there, baby, I'll take you there Let's get out of here tonight Through our hearts to the wind Let's fill that highway up with our headlights Tonight, there's a full moon shining down And I'm so tired of watching from this one-horse town And we can talk about it all later, in the morning light Let's get out of here tonight I've been sitting here just watching smoke circle Around empty bottles of beer Lately all I've been talking about's getting out of here Let's get out of here tonight Through our hearts to the wind Let's fill that highway up with our headlights Tonight, there's a full moon shining down And I'm so tired of watching from this one-horse town And we can talk about it all later, in the morning light Let's get out of here tonight

So i’m assuming in the late 90’s-early 2000’s there were tons of local red dirt bands in the Oklahoma/Texas area/college towns, like how nowadays we have Koe Wetzel, Kolby Cooper, Parker McCollum, and a lot more. Guys are local superstars. This song sounds so timeless, like it could have came out today it sounds so fresh

If you’re gonna play in Texas you gotta have a fiddle in the band, this song reminds me of my college days at Texas tech sitting out in the backyard with kegs everywhere
