Holy monkeys, THIS I CAN DO NOW!!! Wooooot! Thank you so much for the perfectly paced, calm, clear job you did. Your voice is really calming, too, which helps (anxiety issues 🤪). I’m a beginner, but am making a chemise and robe for myself. I wasn’t sure about closures for the robe, but now I know! Hope you are well and having a lovely day! Love from Atlanta

Where did you get the awl that you're using here? I've only been able to find thinner ones when I've gone looking, and they don't give me wide enough holes for the projects I'm working on.

Thank You! This is very helpful :) When you mention the fabric(s) you are using, "lightweight wool, inner lining of canvas and linen, and linen lining" (if I heard things right). Do you mean the wool is the core layer?
@tiedtohistory7740
@tiedtohistory7740 5 жыл бұрын
Hi! The light greyish purple outer fabric is light weight wool, the interlining is made up of 2 layers of 7 oz linen and the lining is 5 oz linen. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
@miraculousm
@miraculousm 5 жыл бұрын
@@tiedtohistory7740, aha! It looked a lot more linen-y, especially since it comes off as grey in the video. Thanks for clarifying :)

What is the thread you used?
@tiedtohistory7740

This is a 10/2 perl cotton. Buttonhole or 20/2 silk thread is another great choice!

My first instinct was to use buttonhole stitch for eyelets, since they're like tiny buttonholes. Is there a reason for using this stitch?
@tiedtohistory7740
@tiedtohistory7740 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Petra! Buttonhole stitch is a great one to use for this . I chose to use this style for the vid because its what I seen used most in garments of the 16th c. The buttonhole variety I have seen in shirts and other undergarmets of linen.

Are hand sewn eyelets more or less durable/strong than grommets for tight lacing?
@tiedtohistory7740
@tiedtohistory7740 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Quin! I have not tried tight lacing myself, but metal grommets had been invented by the time that profile evolved. If you try hand sewn eyelets for this I'd love to know how it turns out!

Hi, I am sewing my first camicia using Festive Attyre's directions but I am stumped on the neckline and the pictures confuse me. Can you do a video on gathering the neckline and using a band on a camicia? Seeing it would make a world of difference for me.
@tiedtohistory7740
@tiedtohistory7740 6 жыл бұрын
Sure! I'm just about to start making a camicia in that style myself. I will get the video up ASAP.

Thank you so much! I've been proud to have sewn it all by hand but also mildly embarrassed at not being able to figure out the neckline gathering instructions. Only reason why I haven't finished it yet.
