Sorry mate, I just saw this comment now. I actually really like both petrol and electric for the variety and just how different they are to drive, I've driven both electric and petrol at Newcastle and I have loads of fun on the electric ones. Newcastle sometimes open up the track into an international layout which is slightly different to the old layout when they had petrol so it would definitely be interesting to try petrol on that layout but I don't think they'll be going back that way. We took part in a charity event a couple of weeks ago and the track is awesome, I'm going to put some videos out when I get time, showing it. Thanks for stopping by!

@AlphaKoreHDGaming11 ай бұрын
You'll get faster the more you go. That left hander can catch you out if you take too much speed into it without the grip being available. When the grip is there you don't even need to brake, you just flick it in. One time I ended up sideways in the barrier on the exit and Pound Shop Lando had no way of avoiding me so just ploughed into me 🤣 that one hurt for a while!

How do you maintain your speed coming round the hairpin onto the up-ramp? I've only been a few times (two of which were this November, so cold), but I've really struggled to find any grip there to get the kart turned in and to *continue* the turn. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.
@AlphaKoreHDGaming11 ай бұрын
Hey Mal, I didn't see this comment before. Are you still going to Newcastle? The hairpin on the up ramp is really really tricky when it's cold and if you go only a bit off the line then the back end can go around or you'll just slide into the barrier on the right or on the exit. You need to keep it as tight as possible. When there is grip you can tap the brakes just to get it to turn in then if it grips up you get on the power almost as soon as you're pointing towards the middle of the corner, using the power to bring the kart around the corner helps sometimes. Also depends on where you're using the boost on the lap because that can help you get up the ramp quicker too.

Sorry for the high amount of questions that i'm asking 😅, i noticed that you don't put much input into steering you do very slight turns of the steering wheel but you still manage to nail the corners how do you do that?
@AlphaKoreHDGaming Жыл бұрын
Haha I wouldn’t say I’m nailing them but thank you 😀 essentially you don’t want to be turning the wheel more than you need to or you’ll find you go slower and you’re more likely to lose the back end. You need to go with the grip that the tyres have and you can also control thee throttle to help ‘rotate’ the kart around. A lot of the flat out corners I’m doing a little flick with the wheel and the the tyres are sticking, it won’t always do that especially when everything is cold. There are a few things that go into it like the above 🙂

How do you find the braking points on the track?
@AlphaKoreHDGaming Жыл бұрын
That’s a bit of tough one to answer but practice, watching others, a bit of trial and error. You build your speed up and after enough goes of the same track you’ll know roughly where the braking point is. It also depends on how grippy the tyres and track are and you have to either brake later or sooner depending on how much grip there is. If I’m losing the back end because I’m taking too much speed then I’ve probably not braked enough or too late.

Any advice on best places to use boost for a hot lap? Got BIKC regionals here this weekend and never touched the new electric karts (still got good old petrol ones up here) 😅
@AlphaKoreHDGaming Жыл бұрын
Oh man, where you coming from? I’d say defo get booked on a couple of public sessions if you can, the way the electrics drive is quite different to the petrol, steering is much lighter for one. As for boost, it depends if they’re going to run them on level 4 for BIKC because if they do that boost won’t be a factor it’ll just be running max speed the whole time. You can double boost if you save your boost the lap before up to the finish line then use it from the final corner and then it starts again just before you go back upstairs. The extra speed through turn 1,2 and especially 3 can easily catch people out though, very slippy you might find people backwards at the bottom of the up ramp 😀.
@MalRoss Жыл бұрын
@@AlphaKoreHDGaming Nice tip about the double boost. Also, it's only from watching the telemetry on your videos that I've realised that the lap start/end isn't the same place as the boost reset. Wish they told you that in the briefings! If I felt I'd messed up the upstairs section, I'd been taking it easy on the downstairs section when preparing to go again for another good lap... but it turns out I'd just been ruining the start of my next lap. 🤦♂

Hey! I've recently started picking up on Go Karting and Teamsport's Newcastle venue is actually my main track to go to. I think my best so far is at around 43.3 and I think my main struggle is with the brake timings. Do you have any tips to be more consistent with it so that I'm not losing too much speed whenever it comes to a turn? Also subbed!
@BlazingAmber Жыл бұрын
And was wondering as well if you'd ever make a video of a single lap (doesn't have to be your most best) with text popping up at certain parts to show when you've boosted and when you've started your initial brake on an upcoming corner? I think it'd be great to see how your timings work!
@AlphaKoreHDGaming Жыл бұрын
@@BlazingAmber Hi! Thanks for watching, yeah a hot lap video is something I might do in future. The best advice I can give is that if someone seems quicker than you try and a follow them. I’m only braking at 3 points around each lap in these videos, at the end of the 2nd straight downstairs, the first straight upstairs and the final corner and the braking is mostly just a quick squeeze not anywhere near full pressure then using the grip of the tyres to turn in usually even before you reach the corner if you’re carrying enough speed, one thing that is really important is that if you lose the rear and it snaps out you’ll lose loads of time and momentum so be ready to make corrections to keep the kart moving forward even if its a little bit sideways. Try to find a point at each braking zone that you can reference and brake at the same place each lap. If you’re lightweight you’ve got a bit more freedom where to use the boost, some people use it up the ramp and all the way around to upstairs others use it off the slow ‘curly wurly’ onto the back straight before the final corner. If you ever see us down there one night come and say hello!

AK - You have by far the most useful videos on KZbin for TS Newcastle....THANK YOU!. Notes if you could assist me here..... The timer doesn't appear to really link with the laps though at 3.17 (LAP $) timer showed 42.24 but it went to 49 secs on the right, then Lap 6 showed just around 45secs but pops up on right as 41.7 ., I'm probably reading it wrong but there were a few occasions where I am fairly convinced the sync is wrong here. I'm currently running at around 43.5 average lap with 42.8 as best time. Really trying to work out how to get to 41 now. Trying to watch your best laps (the 39/40s on the other videos) as to see what I'm doing differently to me for the circuit. You are staying closer on the Curly Wurly bend (After first long straight) albeit I think we both enter it the same way. I boost on that section and up the ramp, I occasionally am trying the double boost saver thing and boosting on the straight before the hairpin approaching the ramp. Any thoughts?
@AlphaKoreHDGaming Жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, so the timings - at the top the number on the right in white is the current lap, the red and green up and down is how much slower or faster it was than the previous lap and the clock timer in the middle is the also the current lap showing the time which will match up (more or less) with the white time on the right by the end of the lap. The start finish line for the timing is just before the green light and you go down the ramp (it's a line with BIKC written on the floor) but it's a little tricky to get it spot on every time because of the camera angle you can't see when the front of the kart has crossed the line so it won't always be exactly the same time. We definitely aren't the fastest members who go there by a long shot but we're just trying to improve our times little by little, so here is what I've learned. T1 when there is grip there is flat out, T2 can be flat out but only when the tyres are properly hot, some nights when you turn in you end up heading towards the outside barrier but usually you'll be doing some sort of 4 wheel slide, T3 is a case of dabbing the brakes and getting it pointed in and then on the power as soon as you're at the apex pointing the right way and powering all the way around trying to sweep up the ramp (sort of a spiral) keeping it as tight as you can until you reach the next proper left hander (before the straight) where you need to try and flick it in and keep it tight and not drift too far towards the pits but keep speed up as it's a straight. Then you're at the 'curly wurly' where it's sort of like an 'S', on entry it's easy to drop the back end and get bogged down but you've got to try maintain momentum and be setting it up for the right handed exit keeping it as tight as possible but not losing too much exit speed (it's OK to let the kart take you out a little wider so long as you've not got someone trying to go up your inside) as you should be flat out from there until the final corner. It really does sometimes depend on grip levels / tyre temps and not fighting the kart too much, depending on the session it could be 40-41 being the fastest or anything as low as 36 for some of the super quick members. The boost also probably depends on your weight class as well, Pound Shop Lando in this video is a lightweight so can get away with probably not using boost going up the ramp and can use it on other corners but I'm closer to heavyweight and if I don't use the boost up the ramp then people fly away from me haha. I'll be posting more videos including a couple of quick members 3-4-2 sessions and race that was 44 laps long soon. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@ALEX-WRIGHT Жыл бұрын
@@AlphaKoreHDGaming Its a bit of a shame TeamSport don't offer some form of tuition for the adults but hey ho. Yeah I think I had worked out the timing slightly differently thinking the stopwatch was the new lap and the white time to the right the last one (thats possibly the disparity) I'm about 90kg I consistently am in the top 3 places when I race but am struggling to break beyond that 42 second time. I'm going to attempt staying tighter on the Curly S bend as I think I've been going wide largely to get more momentum as you leave that area. The way I'm leaving it is identical to all the 39 sec laps I'm seeing so more likely to be losing time in earlier section. The ramp I think still needs to be quicker overall. I got up it quick yesterday but getting the wheels straight faster may well be key. Keep posting dude
