OK, I'm no physics expert, but if I'm not mistaken, letting air out makes sense at first because of heating/expansion from the sun. However... once you tighten the inflatable back down, doesn't it just raise the relative air pressure in the kayak to where it was initially (or even more)?

Really well explained. Thank you! Question: It looked as if the kayak base was inflated, or partially inflated, during this application. Is that what you recommend?
@AireWaterSportsАй бұрын
Yes, make sure the boat is inflated to get the best measurement for positioning the skeg. It will also help when applying the skeg giving you a more stable base to work with.

I worked at AIRE when it was a tiny company in the mid 90s. They were located in Garden City (110 W. 33rd St, if my memory serves me correctly). It was so much fun to see the video and witness how the company has grown! They've always had great products. I'm still using my AIRE boats 30+ years later. I can't believe it's been that long. Wow!

Can’t seem to get the old bladder out. Any tips?
@AireWaterSports4 ай бұрын
The bladder is attached at the valve and at each end of the bladder. Unscrew the valve and take it out then detach each end of the bladder on the inside. This video shows each step in that process kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4jFpndtnZZ7btU. Hopefully that helps! If you still have questions give our customer service dept. a call at 800-247-3432 and they can walk you through removing the old bladder.

I don’t have a AIRE inflatable boat, but if I were to store my inflatable boat inflated. Do I deflate the keel or leave it partially inflated?
@AireWaterSports4 ай бұрын
If you don't have an AIRE inflatable boat, the best practice for storing your inflatable boat depends on the specific model and manufacturer's recommendations. If you're unsure, referring to the manufacturer's guidelines for your specific inflatable boat model would be the best course of action.

Do you have skeg repair kit for Intex K2 kayak ?
@AireWaterSports7 ай бұрын
Intex is not an AIRE manufactured brand. They use a different type and quality of fabric than what we use on our AIRE and Tributary Kayaks, so unfortunately we do not have a repair kit that will work.

I feel I would buy this if it had more features. Headrest, dry bag pockets, dual channel airing, rope rings, etc. Would you consider doing this? I would gladly pay $500+ if you can make me one with more luxurious features. You guys seem to be the top dogs that everyone recommends but I can't help but feel like it's underwhelming in its current state. Also add a purple color option in the highest tier model. Id pay big bucks for all of that. And if you added a nylon cover ontop of all of that, id probably give you my life savings. Trust me. Let me know if you're interested in that commission because I'm more than willing to pay.

@AireWaterSports7 ай бұрын
You are correct, we overlooked that. The valve in this video is the Summit 2. It's one of the standard valves that we use in our Tributary boats. The Halkey-Roberts valve wrench is similar to the Summit 2 valve wrench. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqO9mHtmpbF1mLM

What happens if you inflate the pad before the foam expands?
@AireWaterSports7 ай бұрын
Too much air will cause it to bubble and it won't be a flat pad anymore. For best results let it self-inflate.
@hntrains2 Жыл бұрын
A clean, smooth operation. Is it not better to apply the patch with the skeg detached? Also, if the skeg or the patch can get damaged during transportation, how can you trust them when using on rough waters?
@AireWaterSports11 ай бұрын
We suggest applying the patch with the Skeg Fin mounted to allow you to get more pressure on the glued area. What can get damaged during transportation would be the Skeg Fin itself. So by removing it and rolling it within your boat or storing in a pocket you are less likely to damage or break the fin.
@hntrains2 Жыл бұрын
Is the outer shell really a good idea? That is, do the pros outweigh the cons?
@AireWaterSports7 ай бұрын
It does protect the air cell and makes the boats last for many years with very little maintenance. It also allows you to pump up the boat to solid pressure for better performance on the water.
@hntrains2 Жыл бұрын
Tubes inside a zipped casing: not the best idea. Perhaps (this is a very old video now), they have given up making boats like that!
