I'd heard Davis was a premium bike city. Based on this generally unimpressed. Sure they campus has lots of students on bikes, and some infrastructure. But it's a campus. Don't see much bike infrastructure or culture in the town, looks like a pretty typical car-centric american town to me. My search for an American Amsterdam continues, sigh.

I will be there in May 2017. Where is a good place to park and rent a bicycle? I want to do this route as well as bike across the GGB. Are there many hills biking through the China Town area and GG Park area? Thanks for this video. Wish there had been sound to it.
@AlexanderKozik8 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, you can easily find an expensive parking for $20+ nearly everywhere. Use Google map (or similar) for navigation. This route and GGB are almost flat. There is one hill near Black Point (check the map and slow down moment on my video). Biking through GG Park should be beautiful and full of enjoyment (I have not tried yet). I would avoid biking in China Town because of aggressive traffic and steep hills. Usually I park outside of San Francisco at BART station parking lots (cheap) and go there by (BART) train. If you carry your own bike, you can take it into the BART train (with exception of rush hours). Bike rentals are everywhere in downtown and Embarcadero, it's very popular and you cannot miss it. All the best for you and your spring/summer plans.

Thank you for the tips. Looks like the Bay Bridge Bike Path is open as well. If you have done that, how was it? Im coming from North Carolina btw. First time in California.
@AlexanderKozik8 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, I have not been with bike on Bay Bridge. The bike path on the bridge is OK, however, you need to go through ugly places to reach it. I believe that only the East Span is open for bikes and pedestrians at this time. See more info at baybridgeinfo.org/path

I have an SMC Takumar 55mm 1.8, at the eyepiece of my GH5S I measured 0.105 uSv/h without the lens (background) and around 3x that at the eyepiece with the lens attached to the camera. I measured 22.1 uSv/h from the back of the lens. The camera is shielding most of the radiation.

I drove around Davis last year and I am also a bike rider. I have absolutely no idea why there are not more fatalities around the school. As I drove, I experienced cyclists, pull out of driveways without looking, ride up along my right side while I was stopped, cut in front of me, and run lights!

9:12 This is the area where people eat the clam chowder soup in the French bread bowl. They eat the chowder soup then they throw the bread to the sea gulls who refuse to eat it because there is too much of it and it unbalances their diet. I took some photos of the sea gulls standing around refusing to eat the French bread bowls that were thrown on the ground. Anywhere else, they would have gobbled them down quickly as free food.

6:49 Is there a dealer playing the three bottle caps and the sponge ball game looking for $100 bets? It's fun to watch the game. The dealer usually has 2-3 shills that work with him pretending like they are betting. Just when he makes it easy to win, the shill puts offers his money, and usually wins. They are in it together. The dealers are usually very good at their game and like $100 or more bets. When it's down to two cups and one ball, and if the dealer offers you $200 winnings for your $100 bet, that's a 50-50 chance you'll win or lose, but the dealer offering you $200 for your $100 bet makes it a favorable bet for the player.

Good video. I knew Davis was the "Bicycle Capital of America", but I never imagined it like this. It makes sense, since the UCD campus is the epicenter of such a small town that's highly populated with students. It would be ridiculous if more than half the students in Davis owned cars. I'm from NYC, but a good friend of mine lives in Davis and works on campus as a PE instructor and lecturer. She's a hard body and extremely athletic, so I see how a town like this really benefits her.
@BlantonDelbert11 жыл бұрын
Wow, fascinating. I live in a town about the same size as Davis, 60,000, in Indiana. There are no where as many bikes here as there. Of course, you have a good sized U of C branch there so I guess that counts for some of the bicycles. When you passed those two or three bike racks with just hundreds of bikes I was blown away. Where I live, you see an occasional person on a bike. Where is the main campus of the U of C system out there, where the basketball and football teams play, the Bears?
