Nice video, just came up in my news feed..just subscribed to your channel.. what part of the Juniata are you fishing on, I'm not from around up there I am from the city of Philadelphia, I go up there a couple times a year to visit some family.. I usually fish anywhere from Huntington down to Newton Hamilton

Avonia beach (like "ammonia" but with a V) is only steps from my sister's old house. She is still in the area, along with her children and 2 other of our siblings. There used to a diverted sand bar out from the end wall of Trout Run, which msde the creek run eastward about 100 yards before opening up into Lake Erie. Erosion, storms, fast water flooding and just time have removed the sandbar. Elk Creek was one of my dad's favorite salmon run fishing spots. He never failed to bring a big fish home. I miss that area, now im old and sick and not able to travel. I'll probably never see it again. So... thanks for posting this little video.

It's currently on a 7' rod. Its been a year since I picked up that reel, and it's still one of my favorites!

If you tightline nymph at all you gotta check out the cortland dual color leader material. Years and years I only used amnesia but this stuff is so supple and available in smaller sizes its a way better material with built in strike indicator or "sighter". Good to see another local guy, appreciate the sub, followed you back.

I usually have a net with me. I'm aware of release techniques. Only problem I have is 2 budging discs in back, L4 and L5, so bending down to put my hands in the water tends to be a challenge. Let alone just getting around.

How would u compare it to the other reels in the sub $150 price range? I was thinking about the others (listed below) to use for all around purposes but I wasn’t sure on what to get Socorro Nasci Spheros Miravel
@DCOutdoorJournal Жыл бұрын
This is the first Shimano reel that I have owned since the 1000 in the 90's. my reel collection is rounded out with Penn, pflueger and okuma. in comparison to those, I would say that it is quite comparable, a good quality reel and one of the smoothest I own. It's what I would expect from a reel in this price range. I purchased it from FishUSA, for around 180.

My first that got me hooked was on accident, I was fishing the walleye run when a 9lb steelie hit and proceeded to tear my rod and reel a new one fought like I hooked a lightning bolt. The drag on that reel was shot afterwards, I've never had a fish go that ballistic. Hooked ever since.
