The London Judo Society was where I did every judo grading over a 20 year period (bar a handful at other venue). Such a blast of nostalgia seeing it again after so many years. I loved that place, It was a second "home" club for me.

Brilliant Judoka. To my my mind he will always be Mr Uchi-mata. So glad he is still going strong. Great to see he got a mention for winning a “pool” match in Tokyo 1964 Olympics. Of course he went on to be Britains 1st ever medallist in Judo at the 1967 world championships in Salt Lake City. Had Judo been at 1968 Olympics I’m sure he would’ve been a strong contender there, for a medal.

People forget what a great all round athlete Brian was. He was incredible in the Superstars series. I remember when I trained at his club in Orpington in the 70s, he constantly eat oranges infact every time I saw him he would be scoffing one. He was a great guy always pleased to see anyone who ever you were. All the very best to you Brian.
