My bad. I mixed it up with the other video I did there. If you go on my page and find the "Bar Park Tours" episodes, there is one I did at Bar Zanim and that one should have the pin drop because I always put the pin drop in those videos. I think it's the Bar Park Tours episode before the most recent one. Sorry, I'm responding on my mobile on the YT Studio app. Otherwise I'd go and dig it up. 😁

Thanks for the informative video and also I really appreciated that you were giving shout outs to local businesses too. I'm hoping to move to Thailand for safety reasons and to be closer to one of my best friends who is Thai and I feel like 90% of the resources I see for moving there are written by expats who only care about how much they can exploit the place while talking shit about it. So seeing you making sure to call out the businesses you like and hopefully giving them some free marketing was a nice gesture.

Yeah, it shocks me how many toxic farang reside in Thailand by choice, while simultaenously talking bad about it. It's so odd. That's not to say you can't ever give constructive criticism but this isn't that. The way some of these people talk is malicious and from a better-than-thou mindset. Fortunately, you'll find that once you're on the ground, you won't bump into those kinds of people super frequently. A lot of them congregate in places that you probably wouldn't want to hang out in anyway. It just feels like they are everywhere when you're on the internet, but in real life, it's not like that (thankfully). Enjoy Thailand!

if you are interested in a topic to tackle in a future video, I'd love to hear about visa experiences and how you've navigated that. I'm a writer and can earn my money anywhere, but I don't make a ton and I'm not sure how to handle long term living in Thailand without seeking a work visa (which doesn't seem feasible) or trying to save up for the 10 year visa. Do you have tips or would you be interested in covering that in a vid? No worries if not, thought I might throw it out there.

@@VyriaDurav not sure what passport you hold, but if you have a passport from an NES country - and to be honest even if you don't (it's just easier if you do) - then you can try to find a part time English teaching gig that will secure you a work permit. They are hard to come by, but it's possible. Basically, you would need to work the minimum hours per week set by law, which I think might be 16, but I'm not 100% sure. It's around that. Then the rest of the time you'd be free to do what you want. Then, once you had that locked in, you could keep your eyes peeled inside the expat groups on FB and every once in a while somebody drops a job opportunity in there. For example I saw one around the time I made this video, which was to be a tea house manager and it was open to foreigners (and came with a work permit). I don't know about you, but managing a tea house on a lush farm of tea fields doesn't sound like a bad gig. It's just one example, but the point is that once you are there, opportunities do pop up from time-to-time. Unfortunately, to lock in any of these rare opportunities, you really need to already be on the ground --- so it's sort of a catch 22 situation. The best thing to do if you are able to, is just start off with the 60 day tourist visa with the 30 day extension and use that time to hit the ground. Go around to different schools and language institutes. Introduce yourself. Ask if they are hiring. Make sure to dress super professionally. Thai people place huge emphasis on appearance when it comes to teaching positions. You can't look like a backpacker basically. Good luck!

Hey! Thanks for your comment. Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you. The reason is because I was trying to think of how I could add some value in a response here and it was a struggle because both of your questions are outside the realm of my direct experience. I rented the apartment that I filmed this video in and didn't really look at real estate from a buying standpoint. Then for the "life for single people" part, I was there with my wife, so that didn't really apply to me either. I don't want to just come up with some answer out of thin air for you just to say something so the answer is that unfortunately I don't really know.

@FitnessTravelLifestyle
@FitnessTravelLifestyle 2 жыл бұрын
Haha...of course. Yes, there are plenty of personal trainers in Thailand --- both local, Thai trainers and also foreigners who work (mostly off-the-books). It's generally illegal or otherwise extremely difficult for a foreigner to get a work permit to be a personal trainer. There are a few big box gyms in Bangkok that are somehow able to set it up for exceptional trainers but in general, most foreigners you meet that are working as trainers are doing so illegally. The risk of getting in trouble is low, but I mention it anyway because it's something to take into account. Having said that, there are plenty of excellent Thai trainers who can help you get in shape. I know Go Gym offers personal training services. I'm not sure of the cost though. Serbia sounds like a great value. I'm glad you're enjoying it. Maybe I'll make my way out there at some point to check it out. I guess in comparison, Thailand can be more expensive. Some things, when compared to Europe especially, are more expensive in Thailand. For example bread and baked goods and many kinds of alcohol tend to be significantly pricier in Thailand than in much of Europe. On the flip side, mangoes and coconut water are much cheaper. So many variables to consider. Ultimately it's about finding the right balance of cost of living and lifestyle that suits you best.

Really helpful video, thank you! Do you have a digital nomad visa? If I get one in Madeira can I live in other parts of Europe too or just Portugal?
@FitnessTravelLifestyle
@FitnessTravelLifestyle 2 жыл бұрын
I believe you are referring to the D7 visa. You can learn more about that here: www.d7visa.com/ That visa allows non-EU foreigners to establish residency in Portugal. It would not allow you to live in other EU countries for long stretches of time because you'd have to live in Portugal to maintain the residency. You'd have to look up the details so this might not be 100% accurate but I think you would need to live in Portugal for a minimum of half the year (6 months) to maintain the residency. Then you could spend time in other EU countries but most of them won't let you stay more than 90 days and of course it depends on which passport you have. Long story short, the D7 visa is really for someone who wants to spend most of their time in Portugal with perhaps little short breaks in other places but it's not a way to get EU-wide residency status. Even EU citizens, if spending more than 90 days in another EU country they don't have a passport from, have to declare their intention to live in that country long term (or leave).

Bulgaria or Macedonia does not have even remotely SEA cost of living.
@FitnessTravelLifestyle
@FitnessTravelLifestyle 2 жыл бұрын
I haven't been to either but from what I've heard / read I believe you are correct. My inquisitive response to that though is what do you get for your money though? Don't get me wrong, I've seen some absolutely stunning photos and videos of both countries, but I'm talking about full service apartments with infiniti pools, jacuzzis, saunas, gyms all in the building and in some instances with certain amenities they are even en suite. I genuinely don't know so I'm asking because in Thailand there is an abundance of that so I'm wondering if Macedonia and Bulgaria offer the same. There are also other factors like cuisine, weather, culture, etc and those things ultimately do come down to preference so there's really no right or wrong answer in that regard.

No worries. I am pretty specific about what I eat so I understand. I actually love garlic but completely understand the allergy. From what I remember, the only dish that really had garlic in it was the Bacalhau (Codfish based dish). I don't even think the fish itself had it but the side spinach. Having said that, I didn't eat a whole lot of "traditional" Portuguese food besides that and the Pastel de Nata because the overwhelming majority of it was meat based. This means that if you do plan on eating it, I'm not the greatest resource to answer the question. Sorry. Wish I had a more comprehensive answer for you.

Ultimately it comes down to personal preference. From those 4 I would choose Bali over Madeira. Third would be KL and fourth would be Turkey although Turkey is huge and I've only spent time in Istanbul so it's kinda tough to compare 2 islands and a city to an entire (fairly large) country.
