At 0:54 there is an obvious "gleam" in Child eyes. Doesn't matter though - the eye gleam discussion is pretty much purely academic at this stage. I never liked it. To me The Thing can replicate everything organic and replicated organs would act the same as the originals. Not of fan of the breath theories either. To me, the perfect clue is already there - the alcohol and Carpenter's ominous pulses.

For clarity, earlier in the commentary track, Dean points out to me that they DID use the "gleam" trick but only for the "blood test" scene and that's it. For whatever reason, that has been misconstrued as some kind of a hint about this ending. And that's never been the case. This is out of context for the entire commentary, but trying to point out we were never being serious here for the finale.
