Paige was the first woman on the cover of Hoop and she hadn’t even started college yet. She also had more SM followers than Bird, DT and the next 2, combined, before she started at UConn. With all that hype, as a freshman she had to lead a mediocre team and took them to the FF, and was the first freshman to win the POY, as well as the Wooden and many other awards. That was when women’s ball starting getting real viewership. When she missed all the next season and came back for the post season and led them to the finals. CC lost early ( and was beaten by UConn the year before) and ratings exploded. The following year was set up and Paige missed it, so CC and Reese got all the attention, but wouldn’t have if Paige had been there. Last year Paige was mysteriously ignored in favor of the CC/Reese drama. Other than pure volume based stats, which is not talent, Paige led CC in every quality, Efficiency and advanced matric, and was in a different universe defensively.
