The trouble with Saxon is they lacked a good image. Biff in his spandex pants fronting a bunch of balding old men is not cool. Songs and musicianship has always been top notch but that image really sucks. It may have been ok for Europe but not the world. Priest and Maiden however nailed the image perfectly but alas even Bruce flirted with spandex briefly although quickly caught on it wasnt cool! Im starting to buy back a lot of my Saxon albums i used to listen to as teen in '81. I think HM Thunder was the dawn of thrash metal. Listen to Metal Militia and you can see where 'Tallica got that template from!

To be honest Graham Oliver was Saxon oh and they had a great drummer.
@peterprice589610 ай бұрын
If Saxon hadn’t had Quinn with his awful dress sense and old git byford with his baggy nutsack shoved down his stupid spandex pants because he thought he looked virile 😂😂then Saxon with a better front man could have really gone somewhere.
@peterprice589610 ай бұрын
Great band and I mean great but biff byfords wardrobe and hair made it so I didn’t want to be connected with them I mean those spandex pants on a man of his shape is like looking at 4 ounces of new potato’s in grandads sock.
Can you please tell me the name of the first song ??

That's true. Saw Saxon more than a dozen times, with and without him. On the last tours Saxon played the classics way too fast, smashed them into pieces. Saw OD Saxon, they played the old songs with care and feeling. 😊

Brilliant cover mate, one of my favourite rock/metal solo's especially the Live After Death version, Adrian was the reason why I sought out guitar lessons back in my early 20's, love his tone & bluesy feel, his solo on The Writing On The Wall proves he's still a class act, for my money he is & always has been the best guitarist in Maiden, I lost interest in the band when he left in 1990, so glad he returned, Janick is a lovely guy but he's not the player Adrian is. Respect all round though, again well played bud. Cheers

Thanks so much, and agrees Adrian Smith is the man!!! I'll be doing more of his solos soon if you have any requests?
@getchapull43702 жыл бұрын
@@nickynotes its great to see someone nail cover's / solo's & enjoy playing them, as you clearly do, requests wise, straight off the top of my head, its an oldie but a fantastic Adrian solo, Prodigal Son from the Killers album, you sit up & take notice when that solo kicks in, that would be awesome mate if you could give that one a whirl. Cheers
