The Baroness described Fargas as a "non-believer" and he was clearly the least obsessive of all the collectors. I always assumed that the murders were effectively a requirement for the ritual. Otherwise, it seems like Balkan would have been able to get what he wanted without anyone dying.

Whats funny is how everyone smokes and drinks around the books in this movie. Cigarette smoke is the kiss of death for anything you own. The smell will get all over everything, especially books and paper.
@Ikaros2320 күн бұрын
A important part of the film is about how " patina" and imperfections actually makes the price of a collectors item go up in value. That is on these old items like instruments is not priced for beeing in " mint condition" like baseball cards or old electronics. My guess is that a part of the " value" is the smell of cigarette smoke, and also human DNA ( sweat) from touching the items. The value of " weathering" , and the passage of time. In Japan there is a name for this " Wabi-Sabi"
@mksolid8220 күн бұрын
@ I’ve bought things on eBay that smell of cigarettes. It’s very toxic. I know what you mean. But it’s really not a good thing. Something that is imperfect or worn out is all part of collecting. But smoke damage is pretty bad.

@@IamCanadian3333 And that for sure. Also I think there's a nonzero possibility Mike/Gus knew blasting would be required, since they had access to utility schematics it's possible they already knew how deep down the rock was. The fact that he was using such old methods is why it was taking so long? One of the rare bad Gus decisions on the show. The guy was nightmare. His workers sucked. His best demolition man was a jerk. He ended up having a bigger mouth then the first guy.

@@unclekarl5219 Indeed. Gus cared about discretion, and no bullshitting. The other French (?) guy wildly underestimated the job, and volunteered info about another dodgy job he'd worked on - two big red flags. I also think Mike liked the analog approach of Werner too.
@jammin2575 Жыл бұрын
Wrong on all accounts, this guy is a professional he anticipated the needs of the job. His men were professionals who did their job even if one had an attitude problem, he was called on it and turned out to be a non issue in the long run. The only problem is Werner didn’t realize who he was dealing with and that his “vacation” to see his wife was a major security risk and that got him killed. Even with him gone his team got the job done and done well. So no your take is complete trash.
