R.I.P. Wal.. He was my Dad's best man, his best mate, dad gave the eulogy at his funeral. I hope they're both looking after each other now, wherever they are.

1:25 That's the one, same color and all. Dad loved Studebaker, we had three growing up. I learned to drive on a '53 Commander V/8, three on the tree. Dad let me put 3in lowering blocks and spun aluminum lake hub caps and dual glass packs on her. That Loewy Coupe design was way ahead of its time. Our last was a '56 Golden Hawk. Engine Turned aluminum dash with Stewart Warner gauges, matching speedo & tach. A Muscle Car before the Muscle Cars. I was king of the Pack in '58. Ahh the memories. Keep 'em alive.

My aunt , Ilma Hinwood (1909-1999?) presented a "cooking with herbs" segment on afternoon show which I think was called "Home and Beauty" around 1959-1960.She also wrote articles for :Sun Herald (?) around the same time. I only went to TCN once around 1980 to watch the Midday Show with Mike Walsh but a lady presented the show that day.

Where these the studios where Dave Allen would've worked in 63/64 with his tonight show? I was also wondering why the ceilings of the studios need to be so high?

Sturebaker/Packard was a result of unions retaliating against them for James Nance breaking union contracts before the merger. What a darn shame.

Those are nice but they can be updated and modified to compete with some of the newest performance cars available today and win with Studebaker style. Just look at how they completely dominate the La corrara Americana in Mexico. Not to mention they still make records on the salt flat. They are so sleek long and low it’s hard to see how any vehicle could out perform them when it comes to over all road ability. The 53 through 61 champion coupe that is. I’m outfitting mine with a 4.0 turbo charged ford Barra. Very reliable and drivable 750+ hp.

What a rare treat to see so many Studebakers in one place. All of the cars are absolutely gorgeous! As a Studebaker fan and previous owner of a Lark, watching this video was like being overdosed on Studebakers. What a way to go!

My first car was a 63 Lark Cruiser, I so regret selling it. I was in the Brisbane Studebaker club in the early 80's. I remember Herb Rose was the man to see for parts and knowledge.

Everybody wants the big three classics. Why? The unique cars like Studebaker are more interesting. The others are too common. BTW, Studebaker R1, R2 engined cars were muscle cars before Mustangs, Camaros, GTO, Barracuda existed, not to mention the Avanti.

Ive had a 55 champion, and a 65 cruiser.....my uncle had a 53 and a 63...id love to offer a fiberglass 53-55 body kit, as it could be expanded to hawks and gt hawks...although as a pet project, the 47-52 would be sweet as a follow up.

I understand the studebaker was popular in Australia,- one of your top police tv shows had them as detectives cars.- Id imagine with all studebakers rust problems ( theyre nearly extinct here in new england) that Australias drier climate must have made them last much longer.

Dad loved Studebakers'. We had four during my teenage years. I learned to drive on a 53 Commander V8 stick shift. Never forgot that car. He even let me cool it up. 3" lowering blocks, spun aluminum Bonneville moon hubcaps, glasspac duel exhaust. I only had my learners permit at the time, but boy that was fun. Last one I remember was a 57 Golden Hawk with the Packard V/8 that he bought for 'Mom'. Just in time for me to be the head of the "crew." I still consider to be it the first muscle car. Aluminum engine turned dash with Stewart Warner gauges, Golden cream two-tone paint, it was one cool ride.👍

Thanks Ray, wonderful times. I worked at Natec Sound Studios in Bligh St. and in 1965 - 66 we recorded the music tracks with Bob Beetles Young for Bandstand. Max Alexander came in to mix them. Brian Hendo never had to attend the sessions, but I remember one time he heard about a new pop vocalist who was very nervous, so he came to her vocal session just to provide support for her. It’s ironic he passed on Thursday and the Willoughby mast started coming down the following Saturday. Hello Lindy Hemery! I remember you as DJ Bob Rogers sec. at 2UE in 1961, when I was a panel op there. You look as lovely as you did back then. x
