I really appreciate all the comments correcting me on my analysis, I do believe I was mistaking the coil for a resistor. A resistor is another component that traps the flow of electricity in a roll or coil and releases it as HEAT with no magnetic field. PLEASE DISREGARD THE IMPLEMENTATION OF AN INDUCTOR. I will make a correctional video with a more modern vape that has the screen function, so it will be more interesting. I love that everyone here is contributing to correcting this mistake ;)

Couple things wrong: 1. The coil is a resistor, not an inductor, at least in application. In your specific example, the coil could technically be considered an inductor but not all vape "coils" are actually inductive coils; some are mesh, some are flat spirals, and some are folded back on themselves multiple times. There are many shapes they can take, especially when people DIY their own coils. The main reason they're usually coiled is simply to pack more wire in a smaller space with more exposed surface area to achieve better atomization of the e-liquid. These days, mesh "coils" are getting more popular as they have a much larger exposed surface area. 2. There is no filter in a vape device. I'm assuming what you're referring to is the wick; typically a piece of cotton wrapped around the coil that provides the coil with e-liquid at a controllable rate. If not for the wick, the coil would sit in the e-liquid and would just boil it, sending burning hot droplets into your mouth. The wick generally only allows just enough e-liquid to make it to the coil for the expected vape experience. For DIYers, it can be a balancing act; too much wick and there's not enough e-liquid, resulting in "burnt" or "dry" hits, and too little wick results in the coil "flooding", leading to the problem I mentioned earlier with burning hot e-liquid in the mouth (often called spit-back). Additionally, you didn't really cover the charging circuit. I couldn't really see what was in the device you showed, but in that type of device you'd generally find a fuse between the battery positive and the charger, and either a P-channel MOSFET between positive and load or an N-channel MOSFET between load and ground. In older mech mods, you wouldn't see a charging circuit but rather the battery positive would make direct contact with the atomizer positive and the battery negative would be switched with a push button (usually on the bottom of a tube-style device). In those mods, you'd remove the battery and charge it in an external, dedicated 18650 battery charger. Lastly, the type device you showed here (mech mod) isn't super common anymore. Usually people use a variable voltage/variable wattage (VV/VW) mod, typically known as a "regulated" mod, that uses a regulation board to regulate the voltage applied to the coil, allowing the user to tailor the device to their preferences and providing several safety measures to avoid accidents. Needless to say, the circuitry in that board is far more advanced than the little bit (if any) you'd find in a mech mod.

Great notes, but the guy said it had o switch, which is kinda crazy seeing it is turned on and off by suction. He had the pressure switch in the beginning of the clip

Dude thanks so much for this comment!! Very Interesting! I never knew about the mech mods, HOWEVER I do remember as a kid charging the battery manually for a flashlight where you had to repeatedly crank a switch to generate power, which I believe can be similar to the mech mods you mentioned. The resistor is correct, i made an error analyzed the coil. Yes you are correct on the circuit where an NMOS is used because this transistor is controlling the flow of voltage OUT, in other words I like to use the term NPN (Not pointing "N"[in]) for NMOS's junction and PN (Pointing "N") for PMOS's Junction. I couldn't see anything that resembled a fuse in this vape though.

The bit of wire you call a coil while it is a coil shape it is not functioning as an inductor. It is actually a resisor. More specifically it is resistance wire. An alloy of usually nickel and chromium with a bit of iron that heats up when power is put through it.

Nice except you missed some components. Take the coil apart there is a device that detects the wind from inhaling that is somewhere in the device. I don't know about you but if there was no button and it's connected to the battery and coil bad times occur I have been vaping for over ten years and have never once had any issues with my lungs 🫁 everybody uses something to cope either prescriptions or other alternatives to deal with life if u put a video out about how simple a vape circuit is at least know the whole circuit the thing u said u didn't know what it was I am pretty sure it's a transistor and a led on the other side I had to fix mine when I bought a bunk one and I got it working not bashing u just strikes a nerve when people say vaping is bad yes it's not as healthy as not vaping but it's not as bad as the alternative sry I'm sounding like a jerk lol btw the coil can be one two or three coils and they get red hot in a second look up mechanical mods or drippers and you will lean so much on how simple they can be no electronics besides a battery it's a tube that's copper and a mechanical button that completes the circuit and allows current to go to the coils that are typically 7-10 windings and has cotton that is through the windings and is soaked in the juice or liquid that you wish to vaporize

Nah, haha you're good, you caught me in a loop here! I had should have explored the coil more. Yes vaping is a better alternative to other stuff and the new wave now is vape (used to be cigarettes which is dying out in the US at least but not in other countries). The windings are also something that I did not see… Maybe it was the design, but i definitely saw videos of that happening as an animation

Thanks for sharing! Just a small correction, vape devices don't have filters, the cotton you see there is actually used to flow the e-liquid from it's storage to the coil through capillary action. We call that package of coils and tank a atomizer, if you'd like to see it in a more hands on version and not so compact and crammed together, I'd suggest you taking a look at RTAs (Rebuildable Tank Atomizers) videos on YT, even if you don't vape, it's a very interesting piece of machining and design. They are intended to be taken apart, cleaned and change parts, so it's much more understandable. There are also some versions of these 20$ vapes that have no button but is draw-actuated, a vacuum activated firing circuit (usually a diaphragm or a flapper), very simple but smart solution.

I have seen some that seem to have a barometer in them, or some electrical component, mounted on a small PCB, that has a third wire running back to the power and ground wire junction. I am thinking that the third wire, is the sense wire, and triggers a closed circuit, when a drop in pressure is sensed. Would love to know if I am wrong, and how it works, if my assessment is incorrect. *And yes, I have been using a vape for over 15 years. It is **_far_** easier in my lungs, than the pack & a half of cigarettes were, that I was smoking before switching to vapes. (and I will repeat for those in the back, as our friend above said… vaping is worse than not vaping, but far less harmful than smoking) So if you don't smoke, and don't vape, then don't do it. But if you smoke, I suggest trying a vape as a less harmful alternative*

@@Inertia888 I am hoping to see that in the next one i crack open which will be more modern since it looks like the people that made this vape needed a quick and dirty design. Stay tuned!

$20 is expensive for disposables, people if you want cheap disposables go buy them directly from the Chinese manufacturers. It’s usually $5-$10 for each disposable nic vapes, it’s much cheaper especially if you buy more then 1 each time….I’ve tested them myself, the flavour and nic content is quite good, heck I got one that’s 5000 puffs…recently pulled it apart and there is no burning on the coil or e-juice absorbing pillow (which stops liquid spillage and sloshing)…refilled it myself and it’s still going great. The only limitation is the coils and power it delivers to the coils…smoke and flavour is usually 6-7/10 for disposables. I cannot guarantee it’ll be good for you, as I myself have only done this a couple times without complaints, and here in Australia we recently got a new law banning nic vapes and making them prescription only from a chemist 😂

Thanks for watching the video! Now, I do want to point out one thing about actually landing a job in the tech field. A lot of people will say that technical recruiters have pretty much the same answer when you ask them the question "How do i get an internship/employment at this company?". Obviously, the fundamental things are what the recruiters say: do research on the company, practice code, etc. However in todays world those are unfortunately not the most optimal things to do because it can come to your connections (who you know), your experience, how the job market is, what the company is specifically looking for. There are a LOT of things that you do not have control over and these sadly weigh heavier than you just doing what the recruiters say. But DO NOT let this discourage you!!! Get after it and create, build, share, and just do it!!!!!!!!!
