I actually learned how to operate a steam locomotive in this very locomotive. Old Frank was my instructor. I have operated it on a few occasions from Duluth to Two Harbors on the North Shore scenic RR line from 2011 to her retirement in 2013. It is still such a pleasure looking back and thinking about the old girl. Hopefully after the D&NE 28 is retired we can bring back the 2719.

As another person commented - absolutely great work. When I was MUCH younger, I received your CN in Northeastern Minnesota DVD as a Christmas gift from my parents, and I had to have watched it over one hundred times. Years have now gone by and I've continued buying your DVDs (the E&LS program was and will always be my favorite!). Your work over the years has been beyond influential in my own video projects as I've gotten older, and I'm very appreciative for that. Thank you for the inspiration, and keep doing what you do!

Thank You for your kind words they mean a lot. My goal from the start in 1990 was to produce entertaining RR videos of contemporary train action. Then as years go by these shows would evolve into historical documentation of days gone by. In the world of trains so much has changed in my 35 years of video making and now my old programs can bring each of these days in railroading back to life. I also watched a few of you videos and they are excellent, 5 stars!! Great camera work, editing and narration. Subscribed and liked. Keep up the great work. Sincerely Brad Plets

So now some lazy truck driver needs to park his rig on the tracks so we can see what happens when the 2719 hits it at full speed! Will the train win? 😜🤪

You're right, those SD45s are great. They ran through my town on the Eire Lackawanna. I just loved the sound of them in run eight going up hill with a big freight. Always wanted to run one. As it turns out about 35 or 40 years later I'm an engineer for the CNIC and one day I got a pair of 45s on a pig train. I finally got my wish. I was in seventh heaven.

Even converting a steam locomotive to a diesel is a tough one to swallow. Then, I believe a diesel locomotive disguised as a steam locomotive might sound crazy, but not foolish.

Pretty doggone cool that they were able to completely rebuild the 2719 to operate as originally designed. It's kind of surprising that there hasn't been a chorus of whining and groaning and b!tching and moaning about the coal-fired smoke. Other restorations have bypassed that problem by converting to oil, which is a far cleaner burn. Anyhow, great job on the rebuild, and on the video!
