No-one asks why it's called White Hart Lane. The white hart was the emblem of King Richard the Second. one of those late medieval monarchs (who in his case came to a sticky end). Similarly why is the club called Hotspur? Because the Earls of Northumberland, the Percy family, were stout supporters of the Plantagenet kings, and the most illustrious of them in battle was Henry Percy, nicknamed Hotspur (he gets a name check in Shakespeare's Richard the Second). As a result they were rewarded with land, not just in Northumberland but in what is now North London. This is why you arrive by train to watch Tottenham via White Hart Lane or Northumberland Park. So I believe that the authorities should think twice before re-naming railway stations - there's a load of history lurking in the background.

Not just one of the greatest, but arguably the greatest. I’ve seen them all come and go over the last 70 years and apart from maybe Jimmy Greaves he was the best of the best. You could not put a price on his value in todays transfer market.
