Stolen every 7 minutes and the police will never do anything about it. Ive had 3 bikes stolen in my life and each time they just brish it off and dont do anything about it, even when cctv clearly showed the guy's face on ine instance

Personally I am a convert to Komoot for my cycle tours. Use it with a smart phone on my bike. Plan the trips at home or wherever I am staying, on my laptop. I like the ability to search other peoples routes and tours in the area in which you are cycling. It is a very cooperative and collaborative app. Personally the Premium subscription is well worth the extra money and isn't just a way for them to increase their revenue!! And, with each new development it really does get better and better. Used in in the UK where I live, Northern Ireland, France and the Netherlands. I am not a Komoot employee!!

Thanks to this tracker device, I got my e-bike back within 24 hours of it being stolen. It really does work.

Ok so if you're not a cell phone junkie, then the GPS tracker can't be used till you're back home with your PC. Even if someone is a cell phone junkie, and they have a cell phone with them in the store or business or whatever, They can't pursue realistically on foot, they're probably not armed due to cycling, and the cops don't necessarily care about private property enough to run down the stolen bike. So both the cell phone junkie and the non-cell phone guy is stuck the same way, walking miles back to get a gun, then drive to where the bike last was, and has to hope to see his property to take back and protect himself, assuming the cops don't care about the bike. Personally I see mobile phones and cycling in two totally different worlds. The mobile phone people being often pod-people. Being on a bike means even if I had cell phones, I wouldn't take it with me. Conflicts with the mindset, and the traditional mindset of bicycling.

I ride an Urban Arrow family cargo line, which puts out 85nm. The speed limit is indeed 25km/h, but what I can't get my head around is this: With that much torque, why on Earth doesn't the drive allow a 25km/h limit at full torque? Why must I be limited to 15-17km/h when going uphill? It doesn't make sense to me. If the drive is in danger of overheating, for example, it would be so easy to just have the drive throttle back the output - or you could use a more efficient method of cooling - but until such a time, the drive should attempt to achieve the 25km/h limit under any load. Coding for this would be trivial. Is there some logic here that I fail to see?

i wish you would of suggest a lock brand, im willing to pay for the top £150 models but then reviews say their bike still got stolen! with photos showing the cut locks that puts me off buying them. shopping continues for the perfect lock but im not finding it. for a whopping £150 it should be indestructable! ive watched videos on how easy it is to get through some of these expencive locks, the Kryptonite newyork D lock took 5 minutes to cut that sucks for a £150 lock. i expected better much better! a lock that breaks any blade that touches it would be perfect, i got a brand name for it "The Blade Breaker" Mwahahaha! if a thief tries to cut it their equiptment gets ruined! thats the kinda lock we need.

Handlebar mounted displays tend to crack lcd a bit too easily. I like the idea of a $100-$200 rugged (or just old/spare) phone for use as display. But a phone in back pocket is less likely to break because most bike falls are tip overs, and falling on your back is extremely rare. I agree that there is significant appeal to phone UI. It won't save much money if bluetooth+ a fancier button UI (perhaps with small display and USB port) is added to system.

Thieves don't give a shit about crowded places, daylight, locks or anything else. I've seen them stolen while parked right next to a dining biker outdoors. My bike is never anywhere I'm not touching it or in my garage.

These gps trackers are all for mid-drive ebikes. I'd like to see an installation for a hub motor style ebike or even one for a motorcycle as I have a large fat tire bike.

The police don't always investigate lost bikes or tracker information ! Insurance isn't that great either as it normally pays out a token sum not representative of the bikes value ! Cordless bolt cutters can defeat most locks ! If your employer has a safe bike park - ok go with the above - otherwise use an old second hand bike with a big ugly and heavy chain plus pad lock - and bad luck if you lose you old bike !

Can the next version add WiFi so that it can use SSIDs to triangulate the tracker's location indoors? My bike was stolen and taken inside a tower block, so it no longer was receiving a GPS signal and it was impossible to tell which apartment or even which floor it might be on. Later that night the thief took it to another location where it again was taken inside a building with the same problem. If the tracking app could list the SSIDs and relative WiFi signal strength, that should make locating the tracker down to its position within a building possible, through the Google geolocation API or simply by walking around the last known area with a mobile phone and a WiFi signal strength app.

As a technical aside for lay consumers, there is no actual GPS involved within bicycle-tracking devices, But, the net effect is the same for locating your bike. So, strictly speaking, consumers are wrong to use the abbreviation "GPS", but they are right from a colloquial perspective.
