Consider carp a junk fish but catching any large fish is thrilling and I admire you following the catch and release policy. There are many who ignore it. I am surprised that carp are protected. I was fishing on a small lake near the Missouri that was stream fed. When the carp spawned they tried to go up the stream and we pushing dozens out with a rake. Our favored fish is walleye. And the most fun to catch are Northerns (fresh water barracuda).
