Thank you for the great perspective, and a reminder to focus on what I did manage and not what I didn’t. Merry Christmas!

Hi Rachel, just a hint when joining batting. Slightly overlap the two pieces where you want to join them then rotary cut through the 2 layers, remove the little bits that have been cut away from top and underneath then the pieces will fit together perfectly making for easy stitching together and no lumps or bumps where they join. Good luck with the quilting, whatever you decide to do (way too hot for me to machine quilt at the moment!) Cheers Meredithe
@thebarefootcrafterАй бұрын
I was going to do that! When I looked at it, the edges were mostly straight enough I figured I'd take the chance since it's such a low stakes quilt and I just wanted to get it done! I will definitely try that next time I use the technique for a "proper" quilt

Some great finds! And perfect for kiddos to keep entertained over the holidays ❤

Yes! I do love a little wander through the Kmart section for holiday activities! And Kaisercraft often has bargains if I happen to be near one. The kids have loved all the kits so far

Yep! It was a freebie pdf. Then I printed it on vellum/semi transparent paper to let the light through to trace onto my fabric

If it's a Christmas quilt I think you should push on and finish it this month if possible!? 😊 To make room in da box for new exciting projects next year... maybe. In any case, good luck!

It would be nice to clear it out and be done! Ok. Pushing on it is!

What a fun idea! Have you considered an oil cloth for your shelf table? I use one for my craft table and it is a lot easier and cheaper to clean & buy a new one when needed.

Wow, this really inspired me! I like quilting and sewing but often feel like it never really happens/ is too time consuming to do. With this idea of curvy stripes in a big fabric that is neutral you can really DO a quilt and not piece for months! 🎉😊 Is it a bought pattern or your own idea?
@thebarefootcrafter3 ай бұрын
Awww you’ve made my day!! And yes this method can bring a quilt together really quickly! This one I started with an inspiration photo but didn’t have a pattern, aside from what I drew up myself as a guideline - lots of winging it in this one!

Just a newbie question: what's the difference between currentcand ongoing? Love your organization!
@thebarefootcrafter3 ай бұрын
Hahaha yeah it’s a very fine distinction, and one you can see I don’t always understand myself in the video when I waver on what goes where!! The theory is though: Current - projects in progress, for working on in the short term/higher priority Ongoing - projects in progress that I’m not in a hurry with/am procrastinating on Kind of like “up next” vs “saved for later”, if that analogy makes sense? Current lives under my desk for easy access, ongoing lives on the top shelf to keep things tidy and out of the way

Never enough Wips !!! Love the colourful yarn 😍
@thebarefootcrafter3 ай бұрын
Isn’t it so pretty!! I really need to get cracking on the blanket but the colour work is soooooo painful! (Maybe I prioritise it as a podcast episode to force me to make progress!)
@kimcofield3 ай бұрын
Here I was thinking I had too many things on the go 🤣 I would love to see progress on the blanket, the colours of the yarn in the basket are bright and happy. I hope you didn’t throw away the black denim jeans. It’s great fabric for lots of crafty projects. I cut up old jeans & use them to make books, bandanas for my dogs, fabric additions to abstract art pieces. There’s no limit to what you can use them for
@thebarefootcrafter3 ай бұрын
My problem is once they’re in the box I tend to forget about them!! The blanket definitely needs attention, if I can just push through the colourwork section I’m blocked on. That’s a great idea to upcycle the jeans! They are sitting on top of my Cricut at the minute while I waited to chat to the child in question to make a final decision

We just returned to near Newcastle from our road trip. We headed for Birdsville for the big red bash and came through Longreach, Winton and Hervey Bay on the way home. I did no crafting but read two books. A napped a lot 😅
