I appreciate your honesty; I’ve been feeling the same. I’m struggling with the pushback I’ve faced advocating for our community and POC communities, especially after voting for Kamala. It feels like many overlook the sacrifices our ancestors made-those who fought, died, and endured unimaginable horrors for rights like labor protections, civil rights, and anti-discrimination laws. As Black people, we have an intrinsic duty to defend these rights. Now, hundreds of years of progress are at risk of being reversed in just a few years, with Congress and the Supreme Court poised to undo decades of work. I’m exhausted, and I know the effort to rebuild will be immense. But I feel like our community is one of the few that truly understands the value of human rights, having led every major social movement. I’m not sure others see the weight of what’s at stake for all of us.
