No need to be waiting 30 minutes lol if you pull it from the garden rinse it quick chop it up, stick a lid on it for the first 5 minutes its never going to burn, that was an absurd amount of sugar aswell. 1/3 cup of sugar is all you need for the bit of rubarb. Just add more sugar to taste.

I made chicken schnitzel with home made chicken gravy added Hungarian peparkia accompanied with garlic mashed potatoes and those braised peas. It was an absolute effing hit.

I was fascinated that you didn't add water and will definitely try this way. I always put my cooked rhubarb into a raspberry jelly and set it.

vanilla eh? I didn't know adding sugar before cooking stops the watering down. Awesome thank you, I am assuming you got the rhubarb from either Coles or Woolies in that standard bunch size.

A vegetable in disguise indeed! This just illustrates how sugar pulls adequate moisture from the rhubarb, as opposed to adding extra water to stew without it catching.
