Yara, did you have other exchange students go to the same school or to the USA?
@YaraStigter3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes I had 2 other exchange students that went to my school, both from Brazil. One of them became my best friend, she’s the girl in my Q&A video!!
@YaraStigter3 жыл бұрын
And with my organization we had monthly meetings with all the exchange students in our region, and then we did fun things like paintball, to the mall and more fun things:)

I wanna go on exchange year to America but it costs about 10k euros. That's a lot.
@YaraStigter4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know it’s a lot of money... and I know that it might not be possible for everyone. But for me it has been the best experience of my life and I wouldn’t want to trade it for anything else!

And maybe you can look at different countries because a lot of the time there are different prices for different countries, or consider doing only one semester...

The site is Ayusa.org and for the Dutch site it’s travelactive.nl (although I don’t think the Dutch site can help you much, seeing its in Dutch) but I hope you can find the information that you’re looking for on the other site. And if you have more question let me know;)

how did you find a host family to stay with? how much did you have to pay? can you be 16 and do it? when you go to the school there does it have to be the start of the academic (school) year or can you join in the middle of the school year? sorry for asking so many questions.x
@YaraStigter4 жыл бұрын
Hi, no worries I’ll try to answer all of them:) So your organization finds a host family for you, your only job is to fill in a lot of paper work but it’s totdat worth it. I’m pretty sure you can be 16, I thought only thing was you can’t be older than 18. An I believe you can start in the middle of a school year but then your going for only half a year instead of the full year. I hope I helped you and you can always check with an organization!

Exchange students need to do......learn how to many friends again......you just have to put yourself out there....many cultures do not speak to strangers...not in America.....its talk to people.....or be lonely....simple.....

👍👍👍👍👍 Hope you girls are truly have a great experience and a lot of fun. Try to just enjoy yourselves and appreciate the unique opportunity you have to live in a foreign country and culture. I guess it would be easy to be disappointed if you came expecting everything to be like the movies. So it is smart not to have super high expectations. Your hosts families are regular people living a regular life and not celebrities. Still when you get older and look back on this experience I am sure you will feel fortunate to have made this journey. Thanks for your honesty and the best of luck while you are here and when you go home.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
