This is good action scene. And your comments about realism are laughable. And this show is really great and underrated.

Although I watched all the way through, I thought your knowledge of fights was *poorly* applied in this particular scene. You obviously did no research about the show or the characters, and your opinions on what was happening did not sit with the ethos of the characters, their backgrounds, and the situation they were in. It's important to the analysis, so yeah, I do not think you did a good job on this one. Not even close.

Your 'know it all' attitude without having any knowledge of the series and characters is really disappointing. I live in western Sydney where this series is situated, recognize many of the locations and even met and known characters like this. Born 1950 I grew up around these areas, had a few beers at the old Cabramatta pub when I was in the Australian Army, nearly wound up in a blue, 4 of us against around 25, just when I thought I was going to die that quiet Sunday arvo two of the guys I was with pulled out a pistol each and fired two rounds each over the crowd's heads, of course they hit the toe (ran), the cop shop was just up the road. The two with guns went back inside to finish their beers and as I had already finished mine and knew I could be in bad trouble if the Provos turned up, I left. Not your normal Sunday arvo I admit, but things were 'different' then, there was even a code of honor, in a knuckle on, it's one on one, if one goes down the one standing would ask if the other wished to continue, then even help him up to do so if he wished, if not, then you have a beer because he had the heart to have 'a go'. Two on to one was considered 'bad form boys', only cowards would do that. Times are not like that now, 'tough' is spelt with a 'p'...puff. Just my thoughts.

Nah, I don't think bear hug throw will work. It has to start from the back when the gunner isn't looking. At that point lots of things can work and something simple like a tackle. 3:08 Ask the gunner to start at that position xD

A very well known street combatives teacher and online influencer, Lee Morrison said the straight blast is a waste and ineffective. Lee said because it does not KO the attacker. I don’t agree or disagree, but can someone who is a proponent of it respond to Lee Morrison criticisms of the straight blast? I was taught a variation of the straight blast by a JKD instructor I had private lessons with almost ten years ago. My personal observation is you definitely need cardio for it!
@BrianCopelandJKD
@BrianCopelandJKD 11 күн бұрын
I don't know enough about Lee Morrison's reason for not liking the straight blast to be able to rebut his criticism of it. I've seen the S.B. KO people. One of my students KO'ed some people with it when he was jumped. Vitor Belfort KO'ed Wanderlei Silva with a S.B. in UFC 17.5. BUT it isn't meant to KO it is meant to overwhelm and close the distance from lunging range into clenching range. It keeps the opponent flinching while you enter. If you have any more insights into why he doesn't like it I might be able to address them.

Have you ever eye gouged anyone or been eye gouged ??? Clearly not as you don’t know what you are talking about. If you have a high tolerance of pain and the adrenaline is flowing so it is possible to endure a lot and continue
@BrianCopelandJKD
@BrianCopelandJKD 16 күн бұрын
I'm guessing that means that you are talking from personal experience? You have been eye gouged, permanently lost one or both of your eyes, and were able to continue fighting. G-damn lady you are a bad arse! I have both eyes (never been eye gouged) but I've been hit and poked in the eye. I'm basing my experience on over a decade of studying neuroscience and human physiological responses.
@MissMahnae
@MissMahnae 12 күн бұрын
Yes from personal experience, lost sight in one eye The eye ball was saved. I was very lucky Two finger eye gouge all the way to the webbing on their hand. Fingers hooked in and I was dragged down to the ground via my cheeks, Luckily my eyes popped up as their fingers lodged deep behind my cheek bones. That was the worse incident but not my only eye gouge experience. Pain is irrelevant when fighting for one’s life

Mr In-between is a fantastic show. Ray..the protagonist is an ex military and now gun for hire. He has a sense if honour but has no problem killing someone for money or if they disrespect him. As you say, the fight scenes are quite realistic, but with the necessary Hollywood (well Sydneywood) moments!

During the rotation of your punch your lead foot seems to move a little can you explain what is this movement and what is its utility?
@BrianCopelandJKD
@BrianCopelandJKD 27 күн бұрын
I'm not sure I know which part of the movement you are referring to but let's see if this answers your question. Prior to the punch I step forward and at a 45 degree angle = to close the distance with my opponent and to move off center line where they might be punching. Once my foot plants (after the step) my lead foot probably doesn't move much except it rolls out (supinates or inverts) and that is just because I'm trying to keep my hip internally rotated and still keep some degree of pigeon toe on that lead foot. My body isn't quite mobile enough to keep that without some ankle/foot inversion. A lot of people have trouble with that so they point the lead toes forward when they punch but in order to keep my footwork I try to keep a little bit of the pigeon toe position. Let me know if those aren't what you were referring to.
