I have a SolarEdge system. Installed it myself. Big regret. Yields are poor, mainly because of failing optimizers. Gave me a lot of work over the years. Once two (optimizers) are out, the whole string does virtually nothing anymore, probably because the minimum voltage for the inverter is no longer met. Replacing optimizers is a drag. For one side of the roof I rearranged wiring so that optimizers are now fixed at ground level rather than under the panels so they are easier to replace. This helped a lot. Don't fall for the marketing fairy tail, losses due to shadow are exegerated as independent tests have found. Losses due to failing optimizers however are substantial. You don't climb onto the roof to replace a faulty optimizer, disassembling half of your panels to get under the failing one, the moment the first one fails. You wait until the next one fails to make it count, then for good weather and free time. In the meantime your panels just look cool. If you can find the right web form (customer service is absolutely useless) and give them the right serial number, they will send you a new optimizer but then the fun starts for you. Good luck. I've had about 7 or 8 optimizers fail on me in 7 years (out of 12 installed ones). My next system for another roof will be nice and simple, just panels, wires and an inverter at ground level.

Green Solar Technologies is a scam I got solar over a year and they told me what I wanted to hear to make the sale after the panels where installed and they got paid I was on my own I have a 25 year waranty and I have a panel has been out for almost 5 months and they will not honor my waranty and fix the panel that tells what kind of company they really are

For STRING INVERTERS, Is not true if you have one of the panel with shade, because it depends of the panels, I.e. when you have shades on 1 pnanel, one of the 3 diodes of the panel swtiches to short circuit leavening the panel working at 66% at the rest of them can continue working 100%. Note: the new panels have 3 diodes to avoid the rest of the panels works 50% or less.

Solar edge has a serious inverter reliability problem. I work for a small solar contractor. We replace a substantial number of inverters every summer. Based on my experience I would point a potential customer to one of their competitors.

Wind, solar and all present green power technologies are soon to be obsolete. The FUSION NUCLEAR "SAFIRE REACTOR" by "AURION ENERGY Ltd." of Canada is the actually safest, cheapest, cleanest and least expensive solution for electricity. Wind energy, solar, hydro and other green technologies are all now just superseded. Hydrogen will not either become a future conventional fuel but a nuclear fusion one! Electric power is the future for autonomous small aircraft and with ever more battery energy storage density perhaps some larger ones. However, FUSION NUCLEAR IS THE FUTURE of ever-larger commercial and military aircraft. Now we have a 24 hr. reliable fusion power product. We now in 2021 have super cheap nuclear fusion energy already proven and almost commercialised as in being in advanced production, that of the "SAFIRE REACTOR". So sadly, storage technologies and the power from ITER-type fusion power generators as well as conventional fission nuclear are going to be eclipsed. Current magnetic plasma confinement strategies and all current green energy technologies are totally out of date and relatively redundant. All our effort must now go into EVER HIGHER ENERGY DENSITY BATTERIES because green energy is now solved. With intermittent green energies we need an enlarged electric grid, so we see wind generators, solar farms and a multitude of variable green technologies with expensive backup batteries and they are all ugly and use up much land, while also being significantly capital intensive and all while having some safety issues. They are all also going to be unnecessary with the advent of the "SAFIRE REACTOR" that is safe, costlessly self-fueling, totally green, buildable on any scale on a tiny footprint within the user community to safely match their immediate requirements and is easily chokeable and 24 hours dependable. It makes all other technologies redundant as in being much less advantageous. It is fusion nuclear powered by nuclear "NUCHEMY" and seen at "AUREON @t". Also learn your new plasma physics, astrophysics, and general Electric Universe Theory at "THUNDERBOLTS @t". This way you can learn your new EU Theory, advanced plasma physics and all needed to fully understand all this new academic and practical material. and appreciate that all the other green technologies are currently just now superseded. Spread the word and teach your peers.

Once the system is installed, it has to pass an inspection by the utility company. This is important because if the system is installed incorrectly, it could be a fire hazard.

Solar might be nice if you don't have an Electric Ço-Op in Texas had our Solar system installed on the 27 of January 2020 to this day have not been able to turn our system on due to metering issues and that we are discriminating against other members of our Co-op and March 8 we have to start making payments on the solar system that is not up and running tell me how this is going to work.

they came today and said the solar edge inverter is DEAD and it will take 3 weeks to get a new one from you and install it this is OUTRAGEOUS LOUSY customer service ! the tech said this is the SECOND unit that has died locally . why do you make such lousy , crap products w/ horrible reliability ? you should be ashamed ! and your using a parts middleman causes stupid delays in getting parts too and undoubtedly just makes everything MORE $ expensive ! this unit did not even last 6 months ! you should STOP doing beta testing on the public making US victims ! BTW i have seen heaps of installer comments on web pages blasting solar edge as crap , lousy, unreliable products ! they all recomend ENPHASE INVERTERS ! i am disabled, on a fixed income and cannot afford it or i would switch if i could ! we curse you for costing us $ we can ill afford and selling a LOUSY product ! we will have a LOUSY x -mass now, NO presents as we will have to pay for electricity thanks to you it will be more than a month w/ out any solar power you are scrooge !

If you can't get up on the roof to clean them does Green Solar offer this service? If so, How much does Green Solar charge for this service? And how often do they need cleaning on an average? Getting up on the roof all the time is dangerous and roof tiles break, so it's something to consider.

Sorry If I am missing something obvious, but I am the wrong branch of engineer to understand this perhaps. My assumption: solar panel output cant be throttled on demand like most other energy sources (short of going out and throwing blankets on panels). Correct? So in case of overproduction, i.e. production > demand (or perhaps production > grid capability). what happens? if there is no battery bank, no water to pump uphill, no gas to synthesize, what happens? if the answer is: it triggers a breaker in a substation, then does power stop flowing and panels stop producing? also, what is the realistic danger that solar power overproduction could be a liability to power grids as a whole?

I have two question, #1) what is the problem with the republicans heads stuck in the mud?--Why are mostly the Democrats, Independents and Green party pushing something that makes so much sense and that should have been already agreed upon decades ago?--What wrong with the inept republicans?----#2) Why isn't the USA the leader of Geo-thermal energy---Why aren't all the new homes just built with clean energy sources--why isn't this logical way of building just automatic/the law of the land?
