Rob, I use SGOV ETF to park my IRA and brokerage account cash. It pays SEC 4.48% with a Fee of 0.09%. Your thoughts?
@rob_berger4 минут бұрын
I think it's an excellent fund. I believe its SEC yield is no 4.33% as of a few days ago.

Another option would be a T-Bill ETF like SGOV

What about T-Bill ETFs like USFR or TFLO? Aren’t they better or equal to any MM fund or such. That’s where I park cash…am I missing something?

The fund info says Min. Initial Investment 500,000. Not many people would want to keep $500,000 in fixed income.

Thank you so much . Your explanations are simple and clear . Just found you on KZbin, and subscribed. I am 60 yo and retiring in the next 2 yrs. I just sold my esop came thru and I have a sum of money to invest for my retirement. I was considering an advisor, or possibly doing it on my own . The fees they charge are huge numbers and after researching, and your video's I think it can be done effectively on my own . I am not extremely knowledgeable about market , and most want a hands off investment scheme. The 3 fund model is something I will definitely consider. Thanks for the help..

I am out of the market now. Recent history proves a recession and significant market drop is expected during a Republican administration. Btw, this is not a political statement, it is a fact. I am standing by like a hungry vulture. So is Warren. You heard it here first.

Warren's (actually, Berkshire's) cash appears to be a transition strategy. They have held it for a long time now.

Waiting for a crash makes a big difference if you have a lump sum to invest and plan to withdraw the dividends to live off of. For the S&P 500 Index since 1994, the additional return each year is about equal to 30% divided by the subsequent period. For example, if you buy the year's low vs the high, you are likely to make 3% more each year over the subsequent 10 years (30% divided by 10 = 3%). Over the next 30 years it works out to less about 1% more each year on average (30% divided by 30 = 1%). In other words, the benefit at buying at the low versus the high washes out the longer the subsequent holding period. If on the other hand, you are investing as you go and reinvesting dividends as you go, then it makes little difference on your timing and waiting is a terrible idea.

My Treasury portfolio is 7+10 year treasuries. I have monthly income from the 7 year and quarterly income from the 10 year treasuries. For extra cash I put in SGOV. They pay monthly and I like it. I'm now going to enjoy a safe income for 6 to 10 years. I'm in control of my money and have access to it all if needed.

On that 100% stock allocation. If you run the analysis with a diversified stocks scenario instead of S&P500, that will give you a different outcome.

Is there a free tool or quite affordable that can do the following: (1) Allow user to specify an index / fund / etf, (2) Allow user to specify the dollar value at the start and (3) allow user to invest X dollars at a regular interval, weekly / monthly, etc. Ask the tool to chart out the performance over the life of the portfolio.

Interesting way to look at reward points and use compounding to increase its value. I am setting up a Relay account for my small business banking and will no longer have the ability to use my rewards card to pay for business expenses. Do you know of a way to continue to use a rewards card while using Relay banking or do you have another banking suggestion?

Great video. I love the simplicity. My retirement accounts are a 401k and roth ira. I have a taxable brokerage account for the extra money that I save, especially since I max out my retirement accounts every year. 80% is voo, 10% are individual stocks (what I like to call my play money), and 10% cash. Im 20 years away from retirement so I can see this third bucket grow plenty. I just don’t know wher else to put my extra money. I guess it’s a good problem to have.

I STILL USE MY ADVISOR. I have. 10 yes 10. accounts invested. 7 are managed by me, and 3 by my manager. To decide if I should move, calculate 3 and 5 year return and compare professional managed to my managed accounts. He still beats me after fees. Until I beat him, I must continue to use him. Note he does incur short and long term gains, so somehow include them in your calculations.

I will retire year at the age of 59. God willing, l have 25-30 summer left in my life. I don’t want to spend the latter part of my life working, stressing, clocking in, and deadlines. I will be traveling, resting, reading, going to the gym, spending time with family, friends, and my pets, volunteering, and focusing on self care! 🧘🏽♀️💃🏾💅🏾✈️

My mother's advice was "Buy a house which you can afford." At 21, I purchased a old house, one bedroom for $2,400 cash. I was making $1.77 an hour. I have never paid rent or lease in my lifetime. Don't worry about retirement. 😂😂😂😂 ❤🇺🇸❤

I plan to retire at the end of 2025 at 62 after 36 years in Telecom as a sales engineer. My wife will retire in May 2026 and she's loving life! But walking away from a good income stream and building the nest egg to living from the nest egg is a scary proposition couple with the alarming recession and CPI report

I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I'd suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $80k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.

Doing something you love is ok. Another reason for earning a little extra might be to qualjfy to contribute to a Roth if you're young. Even though my first dollar earned would be taxed at 24%, I would like to be able to contribute to a Roth in early 50s.

I'm in TN. I did my first Roth Conversion in December 2024. I paid my tax on that conversion from cash I had using the EFTPS website the same day I did my conversion. My question is for the annual income tax return are there forms other than the 1040 that I will have to fill out for the IRS since I did this Roth Conversion. I'm having a hard time finding that answer on KZbin. Do you do your own annual income tax return or hire someone to do it? Thank you
