She's flying! looks like the autopilot does the trick. Have you mounted the ram on deck or below?
@anthem1687
@anthem1687 5 жыл бұрын
The ram is permanently mounted below the cockpit floor, and works on a secondary tiller which comes out through a hole in the front of the rudder tube, and clamps onto the stock.

Thank you :) The version I play isn't true to the original. made it my own, which to me is all part of the fun - but this is what I play - capo on 3rd fret, the shapes are as follows: Intro: G, G with F# bass note, Em, D, Cadd9, D, Cadd9, G Then the interlude before the verse and in the middle of the song is F, C, G Verse G, C, G, D When you get to the lyric 'there it was', and on the 2nd verse 'If I'm the sea' it's the same root chords as the rest of the verse but play the sevenths, i.e. G7, C7, G7, D Chorus same as the intro, and you have the whole song

Great job dude! Just a hint: on the bridge, you're playing a "G" position and then an Em position the second time. It's the Em position "BOTH" times. Other than that, you've nailed it. Beautiful song. Good job!!! Rich ( 55 year old fart ) in Connecticut...

Yep, that was intentional, I never meant to play it exactly as per the original, to me, part of playing a cover is making it your own. Thanks for the feedback :)

+Michael Wall A 4 hp motor is going to push a 25 foot trimaran to 10 knots??? A little merc like that wouldn't even push a 10 foot dingy that fast
@anthem1687
@anthem1687 8 жыл бұрын
+Mazda rx7 Michael Wall is quite correct. It's far more about sea conditions and displacement than actual power. Think about it, 4hp would be all you would need on your average ~22ish ft cruising boat, which typically weighs 1000kg or more. Therefore on a trimaran weighing 600kg it's more than plenty. With the engine running flat out, 'Monster' would indeed hit 10kts through the water in calm weather, but cruised comfortably at around 8kts on 3/4 throttle. As the waves got bigger she would drop to around 6kts into bigger seas, but remember that's still probably faster than an equivalent sized monohull would motor in the same conditions.
@anthem1687
@anthem1687 8 жыл бұрын
+Mazda rx7 Also, there really isn't any need for an engine, I happened to have it on the day this video was filmed, but sailed her engineless a lot of the time without a problem. What did sailors do before engines were invented? If there is enough wind to get into trouble or get into heavy seas, there is by default enough wind to sail out of trouble.
@mazdarx7887
@mazdarx7887 8 жыл бұрын
anthem1687 hehehe, I always get a kick out of it when people say , what sailors do before engines. First of all, the didn't use fiberglass boats. Second, any boat that couldn't be rowed were towed by row boats. Third, it's kinda a hard if not impossible to berth most boats over 20 feet in marinas under sail today.

Great job, but I could never understand trimarans except for speed. They don't have the interior space as a mono hull of the same length. Cats (same length) are not quite as fast but have Way more room inside for camping/living and lots of deck space. But again nice work , looks like she's fun

hey this is great. i really want this in tab and i think so do some others ha tabbing out a song is easy. as punkfiddle said you right the letter of the string with the number of finger under it. eg: G D E 2 1 1 the number of finger is index is 1, middle is 2 then 3 with the little one being 4. normally set out in sets of 4. eg: G G D G G G D G 2 2 1 2 2 2 1 2 i hope this helps because i would love a copy. good luck and great song. jake.

also, delamination can be a problem with any cored structure, regardless of whether it is wood or foam, but there are things you can do to help prevent it- remove the core and build it up solid where any fittings are bolted through, design reinforcement well to deal with structural loads and minimise unnecessary flex, and most importantly be absolutely meticulous about sealing everything. you can have no leaks whatsoever, as water ingress can be one major cause of a problem starting.
@anthem1687

yes, that is what i meant- for a boat where it is intended to build several from the same plans, having patterns for everything makes perfect sense. but there would have been no point in me going to all the trouble of making patterns for something i was only going to make once. if you want to build an existing kelsall design, i think the kss method would speed things up a lot, although i have never tried it in practice!

@anthem1687 from what i've read so far it seems i need to read more b4 i go this way. you said that its labour intensive for a one off. do you mean that its more labour cause you needed to design it yourself. cause he sells the plans with patterns to cut out already correct. does that mean that its gonna be saving lots of time than with wood?
@rps13sr

@anthem1687 what about delamination from the glass to foam as i have read that foam and glass delams but i dont know how much truth is behind all this
@anthem1687

the core material was tricast 7, lloyds approved boatbuilding foam from a company called trident foams. certainly much easier to work with than wood (you can cut it with a stanley knife) and less susceptible to moisture travelling through the core in the event of any leaks. kss relies on pre-cut panels from patterns, and there is a lot of time in the pattern making- so ideal for production but very labour intensive for a one-off. i would definitely do it the same way if i had to do it again!
@rps13sr
@rps13sr 14 жыл бұрын
how was the material. what i know is that he has his own method called kss which is a pvc foam sandwich now that he uses. did this one use the same method? how does it look compared to wood core. do you tihnk its is a better material than wood?

No you dont have to have frets to tab,you can tab it out in letters representing the notes i.e You start the song on the G string yeah?so just tab it out in letters starting there.
