This was flat out almost everywhere, through the meadow (open section) it was in 6th almost on the rev limit (110mph). The engine is only 748cc, not that big. Handling is sorted now, will be more planted next time.

Hi I am thinking of putting a turbo on my 998 would you recommend changing any of the engines internals or can I just lower the compression ratio?

If your engine is in good condition, then you can just lower the CR. You may need to upgrade the clutch. With a CR of 9:1, I'd not use more than 12psi on standard pistons.

Ouch, that's sad to see. It looked amazingly quick until then. Never seen a 1000 do so well before. What boost and compression ratio where you running? Also, since this was a year ago, did you fix it? Or running something else now?

+Tefflar Boost is mapped between 15 and 18psi. CR around 8.5:1. Car was fixed, but has now been sold. Currently running an OMS single seater with a 750cc turbo bike engine I've cobbled together.

@wil ker I'm curious about a 7 port on a 998 block, does the block need pocketing? (Big combustion chamber with big valves I presume)

Tefflar Exactly right. It's basically like putting a 1275 head on a small-bore block. I specified relatively small valves when I ordered it. It's also dry decked.
