If for no other reason, Pete Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame. There, I said it.

My brother and a bunch of his friends went to see the Reds play in San Diego back in the day and seats near third base. Every time Pete would come to the dugout they would stand up and sing the Aqua Velva song to him and act like they were splashing it under their armpits. After the third time or so he flipped them off. Pete was awesome. RIP Pete.

I wonder if Pete got to feel like a man later that night.

Great ad from my youth, but I grew up gay because of this! 🏳️‍🌈 Four men that can't get enough of each other, and singin' away, too. Annnd I'll bet they all went to Mel's Diner, after the clubs closed...

#27 was Don Cardwell. In '69, the Mets pitching staff had a team ERA of 2.99. That's ridiculous.

I just think it is crazy that he would bet on his team when he is the one coaching it. He says he always bet for his team to win, but who knows except Pete?

Q: How do we sell perfume to men? A: Let's call it "after shave" and emphasize how MANLY it is, and that we are most definitely not selling perfume.

I’m reading “Gil Hodges A Hall Of Fame Life” by Mort Zachter. The book is filled with great stories that illustrate how good a player, manager and most importantly how good a man he was and what a surprisingly great dry sense of humor Hodges had. Nearly fell out of my chair reading a story about a flight back to NY after Brooklyn played St. Louis and what Hodges said to the Dodgers traveling secretary Harold Parrott on the flight see page 80. You don’t have to be a Gil Hodges fan to enjoy this book just a baseball fan.
