Carl was a legit made man. Sinatra was a wannabe owned by the mafia. Carl was promoted after this minor incident.

In robert Lacey's biography of Meyer Lansky he covers Bugsy's dealings with the commission in charge of building materials. They were being tightly rationed with housing for returning soldiers getting priority. Its quite obvious that bribes were involved. It's very revealing that all these celebrities flocked to be a friend of his. Obviously they thought it was cool to be associated with a mobster. The only acception being Jimmy Stewart.

Sweet Louie RIP my friend. I heard he passed away during his act on a Cruise ship. Sad. He was very good to me in 1989 Las Vegas. They played LV Hilton and DUNES. Great, fun act. They had some wonderfully written and arranged songs. Herb Alpert gave them their first record deal as they said. The rest is history.

Hello! My dad was a member of the Checkmates. Joey Ramirez. I have been searching for any videos of him playing, but have been unsuccessful. I've heard about these gentlemen all of my life. Actually ran into Bobby Stevens in L.A. around 1988/89. I didn't have but a minute to introduce myself. I would love to get some info or stories about my dad who recently passed. Thanks in advance.

I actually worked with Steve, once, on the the same billing...in a night club in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was an exceptionally nice guy. I recall our lead singer had back problems and Steve gave him some sort of massage he had learned somewhere - just a very nice, pleasant, unassuming man.

Maybe a motive for the Saudis shooting up route 91 on October first??? The money he usedc to buy his airplanes were from the Braufmanns, who own Canada Dry, who was just arrested for allegedly S*x trafficking.

Here we see the truth about how Elvis came to record Hound Dog, not the fantasy from the new movie making out he owed it all to others. The fact is the song was written by Leiber & Stoller.

This is a fun piece of history: Freddie Bell's booking agent and promoter, talking about those Vegas days and where Elvis got his version of HD: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZ6xhIpteNmgldE
@SuperZap12345 Жыл бұрын
If Leiber and Stoller had sung the sung, nobody would have ever heard of Hound Dog. The fact is that very few artists wrote their own music. You have writers and you have performers. Elvis recorded a version of Freddie Bell's arrangement, not the Lieber and Stoller version that Big Momma Thorton recorded. It's obvious when you listen to both versions.

Lol, I love haters like you, I really do. Elvis was basically a copycat. He'd do well in karaoke competitions. He wasn't a king and he embarrassingly died taking a massive dump on a toilet and that pretty much sums up his trumped up career. 😅

There are basically two main groups of people types ... those who worship sin and those that worship God. People don't even need to make a choice as to what they want. Their choices put them on one side or the other; making it very easy to distinguish. Many say they are a "good person". God is the only one who is a truly good person. He said in His Word, "There is none righteous. No, not even one."

I spent a pleasant evening chatting with Sam Butera once, maybe 20 years ago. I was ready to sit in on saxophone with a keyboard friend of mine, Clifford Coulter, who was playing a tiny lounge in a San Jose CA cafe, when Sam came in with his horn. It turned out that he and Clifford went way back. They played a couple of numbers, and I declined their earnest entreaties for me to join in. For some reason, that just didn't seem right to me. Sam sat with me and was eager to entertain my requests for him to reminisce. He said he still had and owned all the Louis Prima charts. I asked him if he ever considered suing that rock guy who used his Just a Gigalo/ I Ain't Got Nobody arrangement. He said, nah, he would have to work with copyright holders of the tunes; too much bother. Good memory.
