Absolutely beautiful. I wonder how she feels now after her horrific divorce. He didn't stay and wanted her money.

This song breaks me every time I hear it. Those of us who grew up without a dad feel this song in a special way.

It's not only women or girls who get rejected by their biological mothers and fathers. My dad was so closed off towards me, verbally abusing me, physically abusing me, emotionally abusing me, and showing no love towards me. Never knew my biological mother, found out at 42 that the 1 I called mom wasn't mom. No idea why I was tossed away by her. I know he cheated and I was the unfortunate result of that event. Even my non biological mother didn't care about how destructive my dad was towards all my half sisters and brother. He just didn't care, as long as he could put you down to make himself look and feel better was good enough for him. Most parents teach, protect, and show you how to be an adult, or even have a functional relationship. None of us were ever shown how to do anything right. My first wife cheated on me when I told him about it, hiscm response was: that's what women are supposed to do. The second one did the same, no help from my family. Do no pieces were ever picked up and put back together in ANY of my half siblings lives. All that damage from early on in life makes big issues as you grow up. Some people can overcome it, then there are those who just shove whatever they find in the holes to attempt to feel complete, only to find out that it made things worse. To anyone out there, if you know of any child whose parent(s) are failing their kids, help them any way possible. These fragile lives under construction need someone to help rebuild what their parent(s) let fall apart. Never look away, these children need to know how to be adults, otherwise the predators in life will destroy whatever is left of them till they cannot function in life. I only wish someone had helped me, unfortunately now I just wander thru life a wrecked soul awaiting death. Kelly, you did good pulling yourself together thru thick and thin. You are a true survivor. Never surrender to those who aim to destroy what you've made out of your life.

I'm a 40 year old man and still call my father daddy. I am so freakin lucky. I'm trying my best to be that for my son now. Our country needs more men that love their children and don't run when times get tough.
