Most of the time, you can dress the solenoid contacts and contact ring to allow current flow. If the windings are bad, you can replace just the solenoid

Where do i get parts? I need the muffler and a new coil? Do you by chance have the part numbers or place that sells them?

I believe you put the pto on upside down. I saw this in your previous video changing the drive belt.

Man this is a great walkthrough. I had to do this on my 170 a few years ago and the part that almost broke me was getting those damn handle grommets back in. The trick for me was to reach that zen-like “I no longer care if I break it” state and apply what I previously assumed would be lethal force to it. Been running like a champ ever since👍

I like that zen-like approach :)

Try a little rubber grease on them, they will slide straight in.

Im going to look at a case 448. Anything I can look for in regards to the starter or other things that would indicate problems?
@Telfer5812 күн бұрын
Maybe a partial disassembly will fix that with no further damage.

Where did you get the adapters? What were they called? I will be doing an engine swap on a Craftsman also, however I'll be using a Briggs.

This happened to me one time. We had a bad storm. I went to blow the snow ending up having a newspaper clogged inside. Shear-pin broke but a mess to dislodge the paper. Who delivers papers during a snowstorm.

It's amazing how had it can be stuck with just paper

Maybe the leak is only due to a work bowl gasket?

A hard rubber or plastic mallet tapped counter clockwise on one of the clutch tangs (put the screw in) will almost always release the clutch. No need for expensive custom tools. It's also advised to put a light coat of transmission fluid on the engine shaft after polishing and before re-installing the ratchet clutch. There should also be a small felt pad inside the ratchet clutch at the end of the shaft. This pad should be oiled (ATF or light machine oil) . There is a small hole on the seal at the end of the ratchet clutch which allows you to add oil without disassembly.

I had the exact same tractor except I had the yellow deck, I got it on Market place for $50 the only reason I bought it was because the deck,body and rims were in excellent shape paint was so clean it also had a new battery and no rust anywhere, it did run but not very good. So I started in on it first thing was the motor the thing sit in a shed for almost 15 years I open it and of course there were allot on mouse nest but surprisingly no wire damage I will just list the parts I replaced. Stator (Not Charging), regulator, coil, plug, Starter and starter coil, starter switch, carburetor, brake pads, pto switch , 4 tires and tubes, blades. after all this and some cleaning the thing ran better than my new S160. All in all I had around $300 in it sold it on market place for $600 and had fun fixing it up.

The yellow deck is the better one. Thie one I fixed is at local auction ending Nov4 so I'm a little late in the season to expect any decent return, but we'll see what it brings. Those Kohlers do run pretty strong once you get the proper good clean oil and let them run a bit. Mice can definitely ruin a lot of things really quick and often go undetected until it's too late.

Look at resistors # R143 and R144, they are likely burned out. Replace with new 3.3k .5w It's a very common problem on the Basslink's amp.

Geos don't use gaskets on the oil pan they used red rtv from the factory and a generous amount of it. That's why it's leaking on you throw the gasket out and problem solved

I just bought a 1991 automatic metro convertible today and on the way home my radiator started leaking. The guy told me the temp sensor is bad because it keeps showing it's overheating and as soon as you step off the gas the needle moves to the middle. Is it possible it was actually overheating i drove it over an hour like that? No steam coming from engine. It still had a lot of coolant.
