We sang this will a bunch of different schools for a choir piece and the director was actually the wife of the man who wrote this. She told us the beautiful story behind it. It’s about when (I can really remember I think some army way back when) couldn’t find a way around the mountain so they faced it head on. It’s about facing the problem without fear and head on and I love that.

The recording doesn’t do it justice. I remember watching a recording of us singing it and got full body chills at our own power. I feel so sad when I want to re-live it and can’t because the experience can’t be compared to a recording.

I sing the alto part, and depending on your voice, I can play the soprano or baritone part (its just voices though- not words sadly) Im mostly joking of course- I dont know who you are, or if youre even in the US at all- but I mean...I wouldnt *mind* if you emailed me and we did this together- /nf /lh

I am singing this song for my North Carolina honors chorus audition and it is truly a masterpiece and by far the most amazing piece of music I have ever learned, you can really feel the emotion in the lyrics and it truly a beautiful piece of music
