Hmmm I actually don't like her least. She's consistently 2-4 in sets for me. She's just never the best. I don't know if you could tell 😅, but how comfortable an outfit would be on me is pretty significant to how I rate it, and since Tecna almost always gets practical yet still interesting looks, her style is actually quite 'pretty' to me. I just often prefer Layla's. But I think it's definitely true that Tecna gets the short end of the stick in the show in general. I think they came up with a cool character - intelligent, contrary girl from futuristic world, but didn't really know what to do with her personality beyond the idea that she likes tech and doesn't always like emotions. For example, I've always thought that the Pixies represent what each girl needs most: Flora is shy and needs help expressing herself, so she gets Chatta who won't stop expressing herself; Stella feels unloved by her parents, so she gets Amore; Bloom needs help finding her path, so she gets Lockette who is a wayfinder; Layla is constantly stressed and under pressure, and her pixie is a baby who sleeps contendedly all day; Musa is rough around the edges (at least in season 1and 2) so she gets an etiquette coach (which feels a bit outdated), and then there's Digit... Who doesn't really reflect anything deeper about Tecna at all, as if they just don't know her very well?🤔 As far as pretty scenes though, I've always thought her bit is the highlight of the Believix sequence. The music soars and her choreography is super fun.

@talkytilki Ahhhh nonono i see where youre coming from, especially when you kept mentioning the jeans thing i kept thinking "Yep, I agree" but looking at the girls I couldn't feel it LOL. Huhuhu, I definitely am more of a "pleasing to the eyes" kind of person because I really rate stuff based on personal visual appeal. I definitely think Tecna's gorgeous in a lot of her fairy forms. One of my gripes tho is how she (along with Aisha/Layla) get the shortest transformations ughhh

Of course, I know what you mean! They're all hyperfeminine by some definition. I guess feminine isn't necessarily a very useful word for what I was trying to get at. I more meant that Tecna tends get edgy or practical things rather than things that Flora might wear, for example. As in not a lot of bulky or flowy fabric or ruffles, but kind of tight, with straight lines or geometric cuts in casual looks at least. That's why that one comic outfit stands out - because of the bulkier softer silhouette and the more 'feminine' puffy shoulders. But true, in ignoring ball looks, I did miss out on her range. Haha 😅 sorry... I guess it makes sense that that is coming back into fashion 15-20 year cycle and all. Glad you enjoyed 💗

Tecna's look is very polished and it could very much be considered a reflection of her culture up to s4: up until then her outfits are very y2k and futuristic, and nobody else gets quite the same treatment. She is from a tech-advanced planet and she shows it in her clothes!

Generally No. 4 is Musa, but by season 5 it became Aisha as Roxy was more or less a "Season 4 is Fun" gimmick but always kept Musa and Aisha around and by season 7 they started doing a stock 5...which is better than nothing, but again...not much Tecna. I also think there's another reason for this. Bloom, Stella, Flora, Musa, Aisha and Roxy all have classical fairy powers. Love (it's just called Dragon Flame and Bloom makes some fireballs for coolness reasons in terms of offense attacks while other abilities are more healing-related so she doesn't come off too much as Girl Ma-Ti even though she kinda is), Light, Plants, Song, Sea and Animals respectively and Daphne is all combined when she tags along. Tecna's power-base is Lightning/Electricity. Not really something normally associated with fairies...and not really something to play with. Translation: Tecna doesn't appear much because she's like Rogue...too hot to handle...literally!

Oh no I love the denim looks too: it's just that, if I personally wore them I would be trying to crawl out of my own skin lol I hate denim material. You have to pay me to wear jeans ksksksks Oooh interesting theory! So there is one issue of the magazine (issue 69 - italian) where they are wearing outfits that are similar in colour and (at least in Flora and Bloom's case) silhouette to the Mattel Concert looks on the cover... So maybe I wonder if it could be the other way round? Way ahead of time, they designed these looks and they were okayed for mattel dolls: but once they lost the deal with Mattel, there were licensing difficulties using these particular looks in other Winx media...? I don't know if any of that makes sense 😅

Yes, definitely! Show-wise season 3 outfits are best, but I've got to say I love a lot of the very early Giochi Preziosi looks for sheer nostalgia. It's kind of stunning how accurate Mattel dolls could be, even just as a doll base. Early Witty came kind of close too (Winx in Concert, for example) but no Winx dolls since look really good. I wonder if it's a licensing issue, such that they can't really replicate the original Mattel silhouettes?

I don't think licensing has a big part to do with it since Igginio owns the licence to winx and they could give it to any company they want.Hence why the newer Witty dolls used the Jakks Pacific faces because Igginio gave the rights to Witty to produce the dolls with the same faces like Jakks.Besides the two companies occupied to different market places:one the US and the other Europe so they weren't in direct competition with one another!

The WITCH comics were originally from Disney Italy, and Rainbow went onto recruit and work with a lot of people who worked for Disney Italy, including two of the three creators of WITCH - Canepa & Barbucci. So it's not impossible that they also share comic artists.

omg yes i would live for even a 'shorts' format of 10-15 min animated retellings of the comics! they could do it in the old art style and have it as a companion to the main show, where it's not technically canon to the main storyline, but it's not breaking it either... kind of more character driven explorations of the winx world.

I am working on a longer video on the topic (but probably only 15-20 minutes?) possibly for October, I was thinking, as it would be fun timing. I have found the first book in French and the comics in Russian. The Russian magazines have been archived on a VKontakte (a Russian social media site) by igraemsbarbie - are you aware of them? @@talkytilki Yes, the Russia fandom did a great job archiving Maya Fox content on VK. Melita Toniolo did some photo shoots with gothic costumes and the images can be found on that platform, there was even an event at Aquafan (a renowned water park in Italy) where they gave away the first issue of the magazine, the two videos are available on their KZbin channel. I also have Maya e-books in Russian, at least the two volumes that were published in Russia, since the saga was left unfinished. But I was able to recover the French edition without problems, the first three are in very good quality, but I can't say the same about the fourth. It is a real shame that there are no new editions of Maya in Italy or the rest of the world, especially now that books on social networks are booming.

Strange choice for a teen property🤔 What is the issue with the 4th French book? Perhaps if we get enough fandom attention on it, Rainbow might at least release some old archival stuff - especially since Straffi has been quite receptive to the fandom recently?

@@talkytilki Thank you very much for the link, I always wanted to read the stories that the comics offered in order, and I never knew they had been archived on VK. I could hardly always find loose images on the Maya Fox Wiki or on some second-hand sales sites. I share with you the complete literary saga in French. The digital copy I found of the fourth book was a transcription that a fan made, the document has entire paragraphs of letters separated from each other, I suppose to avoid copyrights; Therefore the fan did an amateur job by transferring the book to a digital format. I suppose that the publisher in France did not sell the fourth book in ebook format like the rest of the previous three. I tried to share a link to Google Drive with the complete literary saga in French, but KZbin always deletes my comment.
