Please don't further the devil's deceit here. If you are a fellow brother in Christ, why on earth would you put forward arguments like this? What benefit are you getting for it? Jesus Christ was clear as day: Matthew 25:46 NIV “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” What is eternal punishment? A once off death and non-existence? Sorry, that would be absolutely merciful!!

The eternal punishment Jesus was talking about in Matthew 25:46 is "ETENAL DEATH" as the punishment. And it even agrees very clearly with Romans 6:23 in saying that "the wages of sin is death" (TAKE NOTE: "NOT ETERNAL LIFE in Hell Tormented") but "the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." We will read Matt. 25:46, (KJ) "These shall go away into everlasting punishment (Greek, ko'la·sin): but the righteous into life eternal." Some bible version” like The Emphatic Diaglott reads “cutting-off” instead of “punishment. The Greek word Kolasin is derived from kolazoo, which signifies, 1. To cut off; as lopping off branches of trees, to prune. 2. To restrain, to repress. 3. To chastise, to punish. The righteous will go to life, the wicked to the cutting off from life, or death; thus preserving the force and beauty of the antithesis and it agrees better with the second member of the sentence which is eternal life for the righteous. Even this verse 2 Thessalonians 1:9 agrees the same thought, "these very ones will undergo the judicial punishment of everlasting destruction from before the Lord and from the glory of his strength." And even the beloved John 3:16 verse says that those who will not believe in Jesus will perish which means "CEASE TO EXIST" NOT ETERNAL TORMENT IN HELL!!!

This is absurd, taking everything you disagree with as being a figure of speech because it doesn't suit your personal interpretation of scripture. I can tell you who else likes to do that with scripture, but you should already know who. Anyway, here is Jesus very clearly painting a picture of hell. If people merely cease to exist, why did he make up a story implying the opposite? Why was the man "in torment"? There is no torment in ceasing to exist. If anything, it is perfect peace, because one's mind is at rest. This is a dangerous doctrine to be spreading. Luke 16:19-31 NIV [19] “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. [20] At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores [21] and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. [22] “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. [23] In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. [24] So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’ [25] “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. "I am in agony in this fire" - If this isn't a vivid picture of hell then I don't know what is. And your interpretation is that Jesus is saying he just stopped existing?

@@japanese2811 Luke chapter 16 verses 19-31 is all about Jesus' illustration for the Jewish religious leaders who rejected him and those lowly people who accepted him as the Chosen One or the Messiah/Christ. It is not literal, as being a beggar can assure you heaven and to be a rich man is a sure ticket to hell and be punished for eternity in extreme punishment. It is about the major change between the Parishees and the lowly common people who recognize their spiritual need are to be raised up.
