A better fix would be if you put the cluch gear in an area where the speed is higher. You know that power is speed x force. If you doulbe the speed of the slip clutch, the power also gets doubled before it slips. (simple physics)

Ofc it stalled half way. That is because the wire is being spooled. As it does that the radius of the spool drum increases, which in term changes the gear ratio. Works almost like a cvt gearbox in the way it is affecting the gear ratios.

After getting the set, I just realized that you don't even need to buy the new gear. I took the 24th gear that was in the boom extension function, and swapped it out with the clutch gear from the lifting function. The boom extension works fine, and is stronger in the sense that it is harder to slip with two clutch gears. So it becomes a win-win-win. Stronger lift, stronger extension, no need to buy extra gear.

This was due to a loss of power and the motor consequently stalled.

the Large Power function Motor didn't work with it the Torque is to less, Try the XL Motor it has an higher Torque and it works fine.

What pieces do you use to lock the differential? (the grey white and red gear/axle connector) or what set do they come from? i cant seem to find them

A word of caution: the more the motor is loaded, the more current it draws. The more current, the more heat is produced. I suspect LEGO put that clutch gear to protect from that.

I agree. Sometimes however, you have to remove such things to really test the capabilities of a model.

The clutch is mostly there for end stop. There's not real other protection so at the end the wire will just break if you don't stop in time.

@@adiurfaditya Both gears have the same number of teeth, it means they will have the same transmission ratio. But the replaced white gear is a clutch gear, it means if the needed torque (<-> needed load) gets too high, it disengage itself and stop turning. In order to protect the motor from using the motor beyond its capacities.

easier explained : it's a gear with a slip clutch inside. As soon as the torque gets too high, it slips. Preventing an overload for whatever that is in the circuit.

Awesome video! Awesome mod! I may have to go back and give mine a once over. With my (kit) standard clutch gear in there, I can lift or winch enough force that my "counterbalance" seriously lift up, once, I was even able to get the wheels off the ground and on verge of tipover (load was way below grade). Yours doesn't seem to do that as much, at least until it can't really lift anymore. The other problem I was having was the line collapsing on itself on the drum, separating and going in between the spacers on the spool. I wonder if a solid 3 stud spacer would help that. I'm also wondering if a worm gear could be fashioned in there somehow and if that would increase capacity over clutch gear, at least?

You should point out that the motor must be switched off as soon as it stalls, or you risk burning it out. There is a reason the designer put that clutch there. Without it you must use your software safety feature, aka. brain.

Its called an axle shaft and the yellow piece it's connected to is called a 24 tooth gear.
