Leuke plek en leuke wijze van wonen en leven. Niet helemaal overtuigd dat een plek natuur in te nemen met een nieuwbouw zo ecologisch is maar het is zeer zeker een interessant experiment.

Where is the vegetable garden? 🍅🍌🍎🍑🍓🍆, hence a green house? Did I miss it? Also I would hate being in the basement, I want views of my garden. Also how do they escape if there is a fire 🔥?

I thought that is what I am living in now? The company who owns the apartment complex is sure-----fire cap----- and everytime I tell the person who is ??????????? running the property of damages or things that do not work. It's like talking to a brick wall, oh I am wrong about the brick wall bit, I can get more conversation out of the brick wall. Right now about 90% of the apartment does not work so yes I could and I am living in a green house

How often is that air being changed when it's not sunny and little power is being produced by the panels or at night? How do his plants do when there's a cold snap in the winter and there's no sun for a few days? He must only grow things that are resilient to wide temperature changes. What is he heating the place with? You can't rely on solar all the time. What does he do for water when it hasn't rained for a while? It certainly is an interesting concept. It was disappointing to see him using a high ceiling with a loft, about the dumbest design choice ever as all your heated air rises. Also there is no privacy as it's all open. I will never understand people doing that. Plus you lose so much indoor space by not putting in a full floor. He didn't show the bedrooms but it sure is interesting he chose to put them in the basement. This is VERY smart. I believe in the future bedrooms that are windowless will be far more common in the basement. They can be just for sleeping and be very, very compact. This is so efficient.

@@MindfulBuildingandLiving But those windows just open up to the greenhouse air, right? Where does fresh outside air come in?

Ik wil op 45 minuutjes afstand iets gelijks proberen te maken. Maar mijn grootste angst is de hitte in de zomer. Slapen in de kelder is in mijn geval geen optie. Is die temperatuur dan nog wel te handhaven?

"These materials don't have impact on the climate" - Really? Do you know how much CO2 these steel beams produced during their manufacturing? 1. Iron ore had to be mined and moved 2. A lot of coal and natural gas were burned, and a lot of electricity was spent to smelt steel and to roll these beams 3. Tens of tons of cement used for making the concrete basement required a lot of minerals to be mined, moved and milled, and then they had to be heated to high temperatures with burning gas to produce cement To be sustainable, the greenhouse had to be made of wooden beams, not steel ones

The only problem would be overheating in the upper levels and humidity build up. It seems like this was glazed over because it was considered unavoidable.

@MindfulBuildingandLiving Heat always rises, especially in a green house. I also noticed that their AC unit is on the roof!
@liveinagreenhouseАй бұрын
You should have also noticed the ridge vents to be able to vent out all that hot air that rises. Humidity is not an issue. I've lived in a greenhouse for more than 2 years now and regularly show the heat and humidity charts from the various gauges inside and outside the greenhouse and house.
@deepwaters2334Ай бұрын
@liveinagreenhouse I'm certain there are ways. I have watched multiple videos about different people living in greenhouses, and this seems to be a recurring problem.

Why do you even need walls in your house at all? It is waste of time and money to have a house like that in the greenhouse.
@liveinagreenhouseАй бұрын
The greenhouse is solar heated which means it isn't much above outside temperature when the sun isn't shining. It's also hard to make comfortable rooms in a structure as big and tall as the greenhouse. There is a place in Hawaii that just made walls inside a greenhouse but they don't live there full time and I'm sure it isn't very comfortable for half the year

And lots and lots of research, planning, and design. Way more than just a normal house or even a house with an attached greenhouse. Sure someone super rich can pay someone for that research, planning, and design but a regular person has to do that themselves.

Is it possible to build something like that which can survive the typhoons here in the Marianna’s Islands. It would be great to be able to grow and live independent of the local agencies. Something that can handle winds in excess of 260mph and should survive the things being thrown around during the typhoons. I wonder.

Your webpage is missing links in the contact us page. :) Thanks for sharing this. I hope you might also provide insight on how to work with zoning and laws to find places that will let you do this kind of innovation. Sometimes its hard to know if an area you live will let you do these sort of things or not.
@liveinagreenhouse2 ай бұрын
Zoning is so different in every country it depends what country (or state within the U.S.) you're in. My house is fully permitted. The only question they had because of the greenhouse was whether to require the waste stack to vent outside the greenhouse or whether just outside the house met code. Your area may differ.
@MindfulBuildingandLivingАй бұрын
thanks for the notification of the contact details, it's been adjusted on our website. Indeed, as mentioned, zoning laws are a very local issue

It's a fascinating idea, but I wonder how he would deal with what happens when the tree continues to grow--the branches get thicker and would crack whatever he's using to seal the walls. And what happens in a windstorm when the branches want to wave back and forth? I love the look and the dream, but I have questions.
