The male CPR model in this video should be awarded a Purple Heart for his dedication and courage in demonstrating lifesaving. He made a great old-age superhero, named Jeffrey Kensaki, aka Jeffrey Francois Schneider, aka Green Eagle, aka Green Jetman. Jeffrey Francois Schneider died twice, and both times he came back to life. I'm sure the male CPR model in this video wouldn't be scared to play that role. 🤗

What’s the point of this machine when you get to a medical team that has a defibrillator?
@mfimedical9 ай бұрын
Hello @LightofBankai, studies have shown that defibrillation vs CPR is not a competition, but rather they should be used together for resuscitation. The LUCAS 3 delivers consistent chest compressions for the duration needed. It allows providers to bring ECMO/ECPR within reach for patients who don't respond to CPR and defibrillation alone.
@TheShpilyaOfigela7 ай бұрын
Because you start CPR without defibrillation when patient has an asystolia. You have to start CPR combined with defibrillation when patient has a fibrillation.

CPR done right breaks ribs. I would be more concerned if it didn't do some damage. CPR in general has an extremely low success rate and machines like this will change those numbers for the better. Never ever look for medical accuracy in movies/TV.... For example, slapping someone across the face telling "breathe!" Isn't going to bring back a cardio/respiratory arrest pt either.

I witnessed this amazing machine last Saturday 3/23/2024…when a family member was taken to a local fire station. The fire department personnel worked diligently and non stop for close to 2 hours to perform cpr, before he was transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, he passed while in transport to the hospital.😢😢BUT, I’m sure this medical device has saved many lives.❤❤

mechanical resuscitation aids do not improve outcome. but they improve the accout of the company selling them.
@nevermind56575 ай бұрын
actually it can improve the outcome. the machine does the same depth 90% of the time and does same rhythm from start to end and only stops when stopped. human cpr: 90-70% and the longer the human does it, the more they get tired, the more they are tired, the weaker cpr and if they switch person to do cpr, there is a period of time when cpr isn't being done.

When we look back in time and see this machine we're going to wonder how crude it was. Breaking all the ribs, sturnum, and causing trama to the heart, lungs, and surrounding tissues. There is a way to do this without causing any of this damage, we just don't know what it is yet.
@ccoit Жыл бұрын
No, there isn't. You have to compress the heart. It is a violent yet necessary procedure.
Well I'm hoping100 years from now we will be looking back at this as a somewhat crude device, but it's the best we have for the times we live in, and if it helps to save lives, then who cares about its crudeness? Naturally, with time, science and technology will continue to advance. Hopefully, one day we'll reach a time when a simple injection will be all it takes to resuscitate

Do everyone associated with repair and maintenance of this POS. The skirt designed to prevent toes or the foot actuated remote from entanglement or crushing must be separated into 12 separate shells just to manually raise the chair from lowest setting. If this unit conks out guess which position is default? That's right, lowest position. 2 hours or labor to remove and reinstall plus additional time to perform troubleshooting the PCB. The simplest designs are the best. Units which while requiring the patient to sit higher stop short of requiring and cladding or skirts at all. Not functionally viable should they stop working. $5000.00 in labor and $470 in parts. The entire chair down for a fuse? 12 hours in lost revenue and then repair? My practice is extremely busy. I looked at the estimate and thought the vendor was joking. He's still trying to piece the unit back together and had to order replacements for then stripped screws. I thought he was being sloppy, not at all, the screws are made of cheap alloy similar to aluminum. Why? Junk.

@mfimedical Жыл бұрын
Hello Deborah, thank you for your question. Unfortunately no, the LUCAS 3 can be used on various sizes of adult patient, but not on pediatric patients. To more precisely answer your question, I was able to pull some information from their literature. The IFU states under the Intended Use: "The LUCAS Chest Compression System is to be used for performing external cardiac compressions on adult patients...". The Data Sheet mentions under the Patients eligible for treatment section: "6.7 to 11.9 inches / 17.0 to 30.3 cm chest height" and "17.7 inches / 44.9 cm maximum chest width."

Manual CPR will break ribs too. Especially in the elderly or people with brittle bones. I’m totally against any kind of resuscitation in the elderly if it’s not going to help them recover with a good quality of life if they survive cardiac arrest.
