if I have a donor of property to our non-prof can the donor get a deduction for several years? A single year deduction may not benefit them enough if they don't have high taxes. Thoughts?
@forpurposeliveАй бұрын
With a donation of this size it is imperative that the donor contact a tax professional regarding the best way to maximize their deduction.

Really helpful video for people trying to figure out what type of business to venture upon. I found a lot of stuff that you say to be true although I think I’m gonna keep my nonprofit because I’m a pretty spiritual person and we’re creating a spiritual intentional community and I enjoy how you actually were able to talk about the challenges and obstacles with the bureaucracies facing insurance companies corporations similar to the BLM and the wild Mustang round up there’s all kinds of red tape and blue tape and too much tape 😂 here’s a video that I created with a awesome horse breeder and train April Joga outside Mt. Rainier Washington . kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmq3ipSCodWofKMsi=XjAjxZxPpIb12bUC

Thanks for the videos. I think you’re doing a great job helping people and nonprofits. I grew up with my family having a nonprofit so I got to see some of the benefits of being able to use your tax money for spiritual or educational or scientific or natural experiences, which were really really beneficial. I took about six months to get my mission statement. I think it’s pretty good. Let me know what you think? House of Loving Awareness Inc. I feel like this could work, you already have a personal bank account aside from your business and having a business savings and checking account would work. I wonder if you create a salary or contract or yourself will it be ok, I feel like the percent will keep you at a honest rate off what revenue you bring in. Allowing you to get more if you make more

How much should you be setting aside for taxes if you end up transitioning to W2 employees instead of issuing stipend/1099 contractor ?
@forpurposelive2 ай бұрын
Great question. Employment and payroll expenses differ. Once you have sustainable revenue to sustain w2 employees, I would suggest working with a company like Gusto to keep it all straight.

Marcie in Wyoming, here 👋🏼 We're a brand new 501c4 org, I'm the first (and only) employee, and this was SUPER helpful! Building an organization that does election work DURING an intense election season is quite the undertaking. We often joke that we're "building this plane as we fly it". Grateful for this resource to point to during a discussion we'll be having at our next board meeting! THANK YOU!!!

I'm on the Executive board for a community choir. Our mission feels incredibly limited to me since it just for choir members. I argue that we need to support our community somehow and/or educate the public on the benefits of classical music so it doesn't fade away and remain an 'old people' thing. If you have any pointers on how to make that a mission statement, please help! Then I need to pitch it and make bigger impacts 💪🎵

You are dropping so many gems that can also benefit for-profit businesses. I was a small business hair salon owner and I also rehearse in my mind that my downfall in my business was I was "too nice". Because as a stylist you build these relationships with your clients that roll over to friendships. So you burn yourself out by being there for them as their friend and as their stylist and not charging them when it is time to go up on your prices.

Hi! My mom runs Caring Clothing Coop, a non-profit out of New Carlisle Indiana. We have been running since 2015 and help provide free clothing and housewares to the community for free with no stipulations! We also hold some furniture, baby supplies, and more! We run a completely free store that's open a couple days a week to the community. Thank you for the valuable information, I currently in college to get a degree to help expand the non-profit and I appreciate all of the extra knowledge! My mom does amazing work and I am so proud of her and all of the volunteers that make it possible.

My son also has an autism diagnosis 🤗. When thinking of creating a nonprofit in which there are already many serving the same population, make sure your mission is set apart from others or addresses a current gap that is out there. Many times you can be more effective partnering with an already existing nonprofit unless of course you have a really innovative solution to the problem.

I have a question. Does the salary get tax cause a non profit is tax exempt? Thanks for the info
@forpurposelive7 ай бұрын
The organization is tax exempt, so they pay no taxes on revenue or profits. Salaries to individuals and contractors are business expenses for the nonprofit, just like rent or electricity. The individuals being paid are NOT tax exempt. They're people like anyone else and they must pay taxes. If you get a job at March of Dimes it's no different than getting a job at Apple. You get paid and you must pay income taxes. Therefore the organization and the individual are completely different entities.
